X1 ignition question

On the ignition plug, coming off the coil, should there always be continuity? Every time I turn the key on when the ignition plug is plugged in, the fuse pops. I checked the continuity on the plug, and its always continuous. Is that the way its supposed to be?

Re: X1 ignition question

your coil could be bad....or if you bought the bike from someone the wires could be reversed.......

on a two stroke the only time the coil is hot is when the engine is cranking, the battery has nothing to do with the coil... My guess would be either the wires are crossed somewhere or there is a short in the wiring, most likely a short...

being it's an X1 check the wires at the headlights, they get bare where they go into the back of the light from rubbing against the housing and short out... Unplug all the lights and try it again, see if the fuse pops

Re: X1 ignition question

you might have fused wiring or plugs plugged in wrong, theres about 8-10 different connection plugs and its easy to mix em up if you lose the labeling.
