X1 Manual and Starter

I just got an X1 and am having trouble getting the electric starter to work (The bike turns on via the pullstart, but I'd really like to get this working). I've looked around the forum and have found similar problems but wanted to hear what you have to say.

My first question is, when charging should the key be turned on or off?

Next, what color should the light on the charger be?

Should the switches on the left handle bar be turned one way or the other?

How can I test to see if the starter is good and maybe its just wired wrong?

If you're a member with knowledge on these (which most of you are), could you PM me pics of a step by step procedure to go about this?

**Where can I find a manual for it, I've looked everywhere and have found nothing. This would most likely solve the problems I'm having**

All help is appreciated

The factory manuals are crap, useless.....

Key is best to be left off while charging..

Not sure what you want to know about the left switches...

my light is green when charging, depends on how the chinese wired the charger...

Take the elect start crap off the engine, gain some rpm's.... real men don't need elect start jk'n

revs did improve, I would guess roughly 200 more rpms, its not a big gain, but it did improve

Re: X1 Manual and Starter

Well either the battery is dead or the silnoid (yes I know I spelled that like a 2nd grader). Its the black part right next to the gas tank under the cover. Hell it may just be that the nut is loose on the bolt for it.

Re: X1 Manual and Starter

yes, the clicking is the solenoid trying to send power through to the starter. it clicks when your battery doesnt have enough power to start the bike.

check that the 2 bolts on it are tight and/or charge your battery

Re: X1 Manual and Starter

Reset the mixture screw on the side of the carb to 2 1/2 turns out. It's the straight headed brass colored screw. Also turn the little silver phillups screw in alittle.

The reason it cranks over like hell when the plug is removed is because they isn't any compression in the cylinder like there is when the plug is installed.

Re: X1 Manual and Starter

I would get this it's not your starter.
Solenoid

Its the $12. silenoid.

I would also check to make sure you have a good ground. By undoing it off the motor mount and scrap some paint off around the bolt hole than put the ring connector back on the motor mount.

Than check the other end of the wire to see that it has a good connection there too.

I would also make sure the coil doesn't have to small of a gap between the coil and flywheel. It may be just rubbing enough to slow the starter down. It should have the space as thick as a business card.

Are you using the choke at all and trying it in different positions? are you putting a little hand throttle into it when trying to start it?

Re: X1 Manual and Starter

ok i did all that and still nothing but my friend helped me with it he has a van with a high power bat and we used it to jump start the bike we got it to crank over like it should but we didn't get it to start yet he looked at solenoid and told me it is bad and i have to get a new 1 and he also told me it would not hurt to get a new starter 4 it b\c it is on it's way out but there is a few things i have to get 4 it such as the brake with the wire 4 the starter so i know that is the 1st thing i got to get that and a pull start just 4 now and then down the line a new electric start but when i do get it running how can i make it go faster with out takeing off the electric start b\c im also fixing this bike up 4 my daughter to ride and i want it as easey as can be 4 her to start and that way i can also just take the key away from her so she can't just jump on it and ride it and get hurt
