X1 question/ build

Hey guys i just bougt an X1 for $90. its been crashed but only the plastics got broke. It will run and ride but it will not idle. it has to be started with the choke then take off and when I let go of the throttle it dies...any ideas as to why?

Im goin to build it in the spring 52cc bbk, walbro carb, air filter, boost bottle, exhaust, and anyything else i can find. Any info on producs or where to buy would be apreciated. Thanks

Re: X1 question/ build

Have you tried turning the idle screw in some? Also you might check where the mixture screw is set at than let me know where it's at. Check that the carb bolts are tight to while your there.

Hey I'm going to move you over to the 2-stroke MidBike section.

Re: X1 question/ build

Ya i have tried moving the idle screw all over the place i left it at 1 1/4 turns. no matter where i put it the bike still does the same thing and runs the same. i took the carb off and one of the carb bolt snapped when i was removing it so i need a new intake manifold and carb bolt. the carb was pretty clean inside tho and seems to be in good condition but i can not try it untill i get another bolt and manifold.

where shouldd the mixture and idle screws be set on these little monsters?

Re: X1 question/ build

The mixture screw starting point is 2 1/2 turns out. I set the idle screw in just before the rear wheel starts to turn. which is alittle high but works real good on my X2 & X7 race bikes. I feel it helps the bottom end when set like this. It takes the lag out of the throttle when you turn it cause it's set just before the clutch engages.

Re: X1 question/ build

When the bike dies when the throttle is released even with the idle set it means you have too much high speed needlejet setting and not enough low speed needle jet setting

On the top of the carb is a slotted brass screw that holds down the rotator...Its also the Lowspeed needle. Its supposed to be set 1-1/4 turns out...If its loose after setting take a couple drops of tire slime or superglue to hold it in place when it dries...dont use loctite..It eats plastic up.....

On the side of the carb is the high speed needle..Its setting is 1-1/4 - 1-1/2 turns out..

After setting both and starting up the bike you set the idle which is the small silver philipshead screw

When you get a new manifold make sure when you install it so all the purgeport holes line up perfectly within the gaskets, manifold and carb.............Peace

Re: X1 question/ build

That could be but it sounds more like the idle screw is set to low or may even be a small air leak. 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 that's to lean on the mixture screw with the stock carb. That's about right for a 603 carb. I live at high altitude and mine is set at 2 3/4 turns out. I've always known them to be set between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 turns out when fine tuned.
