X1 won't start

Just looking for some help here, bought this bike for 20 bucks and it does not run. I checked the spark (good and blue), fuel (ran out of the carb when I took it off, looked clean, fresh fuel mix, wet plug), compression feels good. The pull starter is removed because it was broken... been trying to start with a drill right on the bolt (clockwise). Elec. start only clicks when pushed in. Low voltage- still nothing after a nights charge. Is the battery a must? Even with good spark? Do I need to hold a brake when starting? This bike looks like new- I have a new pull start on order- but cheaped out on the battery.

Re: X1 won't start

The battery isnt a must have to run the bike.........The things to look for are loose carb bolts, bad carb gaskets, clogged intank fuel filter and making sure the carb is clean and pumping fuel through the lines when the primer bulb on the carb bottom is primed...Resetting the lowspeed needle and the high speed needle will also need to be done....the lowspeed needle is the slotted brass screw on the carb top where the cable rotates it....the factory setting is 1-1/4 turns out....the high speed needle is on the carb side and needs to be set tothe same 1-1/4 turns out.....pump the primer 5-8 times, set choke and pulls start it...............Peace

Re: X1 won't start

Reset the mixture screws, and still nothing. Again, it has good spark- and the plug is wet when I remove it. Once dry- I put it back in and try again. Still no pop. We took the carb completely apart- and it all looks really clean. When primed- the fuel flows nicely back into the tank through the clear line. There are bubbles in the clear return line- is this normal?

What next? New carb- new motor?

Could it be the drill starting procedure? Should I just wait until I put the new pull start on?

The filter in the tank looked kinda chewed up... the screens seemed to be missing- but then how could the fuel still flow when primed?

Re: X1 won't start

You may have a weak coil...remove the sparkplug, snap it on the wire ,hold the plug 1/2"-3/4" away from a good ground source, crank the engine to see if the coil has enough power to jump a spark from the plug tip to ground the 1/2-3/4"...If not chances are its weak and needs replacing..Have you tried a new sparkplug...NGK BM6A is what you need....................Peace
