Re: x2??

Welcome to the site. Sure you can get it running without all that electrical crap. And I'm just the guy to tell you how to do it real easy. If you follow the 2 small wire's from the coil to it's connector and unplug it. Than follow the wire that leaves the starter button to it's connector and unplug it. Than plug it to the wire's from the coil. This will now make the starter button your killswitch and it's safe to remove all the electrical on the bike. The key box, lights, horn, battery, all other wire's and even the electric starter windings.

Re: x2??

Set the mixture screw to 2 1/2 turns out. That's the straight headed brass colored screw on the side of the carb. If you look at your carb the 2 fitting are 2 different sizes. and 1 points straight down put the black line on it and the fitting that has a bend put the clear which is the return line. The ground wire from the starter undo the motor mount bolts that's on the front left same side as the pull start. Clean alittle paint off around the hole and put the bolt back in with the ground wire.

Re: x2??

Have you checked for spark? What does it do when you do try and start it? Does the motor fire over (sound like it wants to start)at all or does it just spin?

Re: x2??

Mix 3.5 ozs of oil to 1 gallon of gas. I use 40:1 which is 3.2 ozs of oil to a gallon of gas.

Give this a try pump the primer bulb 3 times slowly. Push the choke lever up. Open throttle about half way and pull the pull start 3 times slowly. Still holding the throttle about half way open give the pull starter a short quick pull to your chest. If it fires but don't start push the choke lever half way down and give it another short quick pull to your chest. Give it a minute or 2 to let it warm up and push the choke the rest of the way down.

Re: x2??

No do not tighten the mixture screw. You only want to turn it softly until it stops than back out 2 1/2 turns. So when you checked the spark what color was it. It should be a nice blue color and orange or white is no good. Since you have been tring to start it alot the motor maybe flooded. So take out the plug make sure it is getting wet but while you have it out pull start it and see if fuel come out of the plug hole. You will need to keep pulling until you get it all out and dry the plug off than put it back in. If you have some starter fluid give her a little shot into the airfilter and pull start it. It will make it easier if you have someone help with that. If the motor fires over after giving it a shot than the coil is good and maybe a problem with the carb. If it doesn't fire over after giving it a shot the coil is bad. Since you have had the carb off pull it off and check to see that you didn't put the gasket on wrong and covered the pulse hole in the manifold. You know it's times like this that I wish the bike was right in front of me it would make it so much easier for the both of us. If it still has the stock torch sparkplug go get a new plug. Go get a champion cj8 you should be able to find it anywhere that sell plugs. Although we all use a NGK BM6A (5921)plug it's not as easy to find sometimes.

Re: x2??

That's odd that it has a good blue spark but yet with a shot of starting fluid it didn't fire over long enough to burn it up. I'm thinking even though the coil is making a blue spark when testing it that under compresson it isn't. Cause as flameable as starting fluid is the motor should of fired over if the coil is good. Either the coil is bad or you have a very bad air leak. The base gasket and intake gaskets do they have any tears in them or missing? Have you tried a new sparkplug just to rule it out?

Re: x2??

For the base gasket that grey stuff should work has long as you don't put to much around the pulse hole in the case. You do want to plug it up. For the intake I would either get some or make some out of sheet paper gasket that you can get at and auto parts store.
On top of the CVT there's a fill bolt it has a small hole in it which should always have oil on top of that fill bolt That shows that there is enough oil in the CVT. Just use some gear oil in the CVT. When your filling it spin the back wheel some to help get the air bubbles out. It takes alittle time to fill cause you have to work at getting as much air out of it. Than when you think it full make sure you add alttle more after riding it the first few times. Like I said there should always be oil on top of the fill bolt. If theres oil on top it's good and when there isn't oil on top add oil.
