X7-R1 Tuned pipe from HPminimods doesn't fit!

I know there was a previous post from Joelanza but that post got way off track so here's a new thread to get things back on.

I just got one of these pipes from HPminimods called "FS529 Performance Race Pipe R1". I finally had the chance to install it today.

First of all, what's up with this pipe fitting. It was as if it was made for some other bike. The header didn't fit I had to cut my own gasket with it not completely blocking the header as the stock pipe did. The bolt-on bracket was way off and didnt fit so i made my own bracket. Did they ship me the wrong pipe?

I should have taken a picture of it out of the box but here's the image from HPmiminods. I also included the picture of my bike and the misconnection with the header. One of the pictures shows the stock header with the connection plate (Diamond-shaped). The installed header (rectangular-shaped)is the new pipe in place...notice the gasket hanging out. If you guys have ever taken the stock pipe off, you will notice that the pipe seats into the head with a wider coring than the pipe's outer diameter. With this fitting, now there is this big cavity. Does anyone see a potential problem with this? (Other than the gasket wearing out)

I also installed the ADA WT-668 walbro kit. The bike is definitely faster and a little quicker on the response...but i think i still need to do some adjustments to the carb.

Has anyone installed this pipe yet?? I will call HPmiminods tomorrow to check on what the deal is.

Talking Pipe

Take the diamond shaped piece off (it looks like its part of the head but its not)You will have to tug a little and it will pop off and then it all should line up. Hope this helps.

Then put it between the new pipe bracket and the head? I guess i can do that but the bolts they included no way fits through this thickness. I used my own M6 x 25 mm bolts and it was close even with these.

Pipe

No The diamond shaped piece does not go back on. When you pop it off, you will see what i mean. The bolts supplied with my pipe were shorter and worked fine after the adapter was taken off. Hope this explains it a little better.

Ohh!!! I was going to write another "duh" question but it just hit me! you mean that the manifold on the head. I though you were talking about the flange on the stock pipe. I had no idea that it wasn't part of the header. ****!

So, if the manifold comes off, which i was in such a hurry to put on the pipe that i didnt think to try and pull that off, then the pipe will fit with the bolt-on flange in the back!

Awesome! Thanks!

@ Vipergts8298 so could you tell us how much gain was made with this pipe. I am waiting on some feedback before I discard the stock pipe and put out the money for what is out there.
I have seen this pipe selling for less than $130.........is that about right?

Pipe

Far as performance gains, I cant tell you just yet. I put the pipe on with a number of other things so i am still in the process of tuning it. I paid around 170.00 shipped for my pipe

Definitely picked up some top end. The mid range feels pretty good too. I just need to tune the carb to get better low end. It's snappy on the throttle but needs a little bit stronger to pull my heavy a$$...lol.

by the way, pulled off the diamond piece and everything fits now...go figure..

Ok thankjs for the input.
A couple questions about the new pipe. What size is the inlet size of the pipe?.....is it larger than stock?.......does it match the exhaust port well?
Is it quieter than stock or louder?

I hadn't measured the inlet size but I recall that it is the same size as the exhaust port. In fact, I used the stock gasket and it fits exactly. the pipe is a little louder and not as deep in tone. It's not too bad though. The bike pulls extremely well and stays pretty strong at top end. As i mentioned before, i still need to work on the low end with the carb.

this pipe is great after i swapped it on. this thing picked up on highend needs some work on low end but major diffrents in the high end. i would give my friend with a x7 with a rocket key, boost tube and filter 2 full car lengths and still smoke him and gain 2 car lengths on him. I LOVE THIS PIPE!!!

Why are they so freakin expensive?........They should be able to sell these pipes for well under a $100 and still make a profit. I just do not understand.
I can get the CaliforniaPocketRocket pipe for $145 shipped to my house......but I feel that is still over priced. I will keep the stock pipe untill the hp pipe sells for under $100......or I will build my own.

Then you might have to wait for China on that one. If its made in the US with a good quality finish, and construction, your going to pay more. But hey I understand those who want to spend as little money as possible on these bikes. All I can say is the pipe is going to make the biggest performance difference and be one of the most expensive parts.

yeah these prices are ridiculous for this little bitty bike. ill look at the first guinea pigs who get it and read their experiences...

i think if more companies manufacture more parts for these bikes that will drive competition and lower prices in the end..

the price will go down, these bikes already come w/ a pipe that has an exspansion chamber, so your not gonna see a bunch of people running out to grab those like the hp pipes for the x1 x2. when they find there self sitting on a bunch of inventory theyll drop the price trust me .
