Question X7 speed governer (where!)

Hey everyone

I just got a black x7 off ebay, and took it out for some trial runs. The bike is great, but everyone keeps refering to taking off the "speed governer". Im not exactly sure where on the throttle this is, and if it really makes a significant improvement. Any help or photos of it removed would be nice.

Thanks

BTW its the tightest bike ever! a lot stronger built and better engine setup...

look on top of the carb, while your pulling on the throttle, you should see a " L " shaped bracked with a screw threw it that is only allowing the throttle to move so far.. take the screw out, or the whole bracket. i dont have any pic with the it on i took mine off also, but i can show u where it was..

I just took out the screw that was going through the red L shaped thing... performance improved GREATLY... the bike accelerates alot faster and makes it easily up the huge hills around my neiborhood... thanks guys for the photos and advice!

For me, there was a piece of plastic in the actual throttle handle AND an L shaped metal that was on top of the carb. I removed both and now the black peice of plastic on the carb can be pulled all the way back (i.e. giving me the best speed possible). So to answer your question, there are TWO things that restrict the speed, the white thing on the throttle, and the "L" thing on the carb.

Not exactly...

It depends on who made/assembled your bike, mine was made by AARVI and only had the limiter on the carb (L shaped bracket with adjustable screw limiting throttle barrel movement.

Mine is an Aarvi too but I found the little black C clip in the throttle. Removed it and the throttle opens up WAY more. Gonna look for the L bracket tomorrow just in case though.

just to make sure dj..
if youare sitting on the bike , it would be on the left side of the engine.

take your right hand and squeeze the trigger while watching the throttle cable open up the barrel in the carb. now the throttle cable , the black housing, is attached to a bracket with a gold sleeve and a nut, then you see the bare throttle wire on the other end connected to the black barrell. as you open up the throttle , AND if you had such a restrictor on the carb, it would be a screw thats preventing the cable to open the barrell up all the way. it looks just like the idle screw on the other side of the barrell. if you dont have a screw over by where the throttle cable attaches onto the carb then you do not have a restrictor there.

hope i helped some. it makes it easier to visuallize if you spell out things...

if you need more help, i can snap a pic of my stock carb ( i have a ada hp carb on it now) wheere the restrictor was and send it to you.. u got my email , just let me know...
