not for long...2 days isnt nearly enough time to break it in...toping out a 2 day old bike will surely make sure the engine doesnt last long. You need to go easy on it for 2 weeks, that gives everything enough time to settle and break in.

Re: x7 top speed!!

Mine does 32 on GPS on level ground, after a couple tanks of break-in time. Stock except for a little carb tuning.

My x7 is an aarvi bike and did not come with a speed limiter. The throttle ball thing goes WO right out of the box.

Though the carb on mine was set to run really rich out of the box, and it would only do like 20mph. That has the same effect as a governor, and is probably good for break-in, though not for hauling @ss.

Hey bud.. Well I just got my X7, totally was disapointed right out of the box. But it is starting to rev up a little faster since it is still new and burning in.

You state you made some carb adjustments, Can you tell me exactly what tuning you did? I have tried many different settings for the air-fule screw, but anything after 2 1/5 turns to 4 turns does nothoing I can tell. Anything up or lower, the bike will bog and or die.

Also, have you done anything else to the bike now? I am thinking of gear changing the from sprocket from 17 tooth to 11 tooth and maybe the back one.. I am not worried about top end as I want better take off. This is fun around the community, but the take off is way to slow.. My new cag is 10 times faster all around and it has a 47cc my X7 has a 49cc...

Any ideas? And those carb tunes would be helpfull..

What you need is a stronger clutch spring. It will make the clutch grip on higher rpm's and terefore you get a much better acceleration. It can eat clutch shoes though, but unless the quality is utterly crap, it shall be no big problem.
I had a stronger clutch spring on mine and it didn't mess the clutch up very fast at all, but i was lucky to get good quality parts on my x7. Some are not that lucky unfortunatly.

Btw my x7 did about 43mph or 70km/h. But it had to work, hard, to get to that speed. It was ufcourse overgeared, but i liked it.

Now i'm working on a "reed house" (with lack of words) that will have reeds from a horisontal Minarelli scooter engine put into it. These are 4 petal reeds and looks pretty big compared to the ADA reeds available. I might be wrong though.

I have a massive boost port milled in the back of the cylinder and other portings such as widened and raised exhaust, raised transfer ports etc.
I will make an exhaust system for the engine aswell that will respond perfect to this particular engine. I don't know the word but you know, when you build an exhaust specifically for the portings and angles etc.

Anyway, i hope after all is set up, that i will reach 80km/h or more. Maybe i'm just dreaming but i think it may be possible. And if i fail, then i have the RD 350 to go more then twice as fast.

Re: x7 top speed!!

Sorry for the double post but i can't edit the previous one now.

Here's some pics of what i'm doing now. The picture quality is crap but there's something wrong with the camera. I can't figure out how the hell you get the pics normal again!

The steel plate on the intake shall be a part of the reedcage holder.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/Krafs/1.jpg

Here's the boostport. It's in the same duration as the transfers. I DO NOT suggest you do it as wide as i did it though, because it's a bit risky. Make it a couple of mm less wide and you'll be fine.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/Krafs/2.jpg

Boostport again..
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/Krafs/3.jpg

The windows in the piston are the same width as the boostport. Making it wider is a waste of time and maybe a piston! The holes in this piston shall be raised a bit, that way it will be better flow up the port.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/Krafs/4.jpg

This is the reeds i'm working on. A horisontal Minarelli reed from a scooter engine.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/Krafs/5.jpg

Some parts that shall be welded together.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/Krafs/6.jpg

If i'm going to use a carb that requires a pulse, then i'll draw a hose from the bottom of the crankcase and into the intake manifold which i havn't built yet since i don't know what carb i'm going to use.

Hope this gives you some inspiration!

Edit: Oh how annoying, i thiught this was the "x7 top speed and how to get there"-thread! Haha, well i hope it doesn't matter alot.

Re: x7 top speed!!

My son's X7 did about 38 mph out of the box (it had some mods). We added a hi-perf carb, air filter, sprockets, coil and spark plug and it does about 50 mph. Honestly, I really wouldn't want it to go any faster.

Re: x7 top speed!!

Thought I would throw in my two cents on how fast my X7 is...

Out of the box, this thing did like 20mph. Later i tested next to my wife driving and the GPS, and we got it about 23mpr on a straight with no wind.

Now I have made some minor adjustmens to the bike, so here is a short list so far but with more to do and add....

- Stage 1 exhaust system
- Inferno Multi spark ignition
- E3 12 spark plug, (tried many and this worked best for me)
- HP air filter, velocity stack with choke
- 14 tooth front sprocket from the 17 originally
- New better brake calipers, front and rear,
- new yellow neon fuel lines with new billet fuel filter.
- PBU gas tank cap with fuel air hose to the tank

- New fuse setup, larger 1/4 10amp/250 volt from the smaller version that blew and was hard to find, all I had to do was drill a bigger hole and then solder two wires clips. Now IT WORKS better in my opinion. Got the setup at Radio shack for $5.77 with tax, included 5 fuses, and new housing.

Synthetic oil mix with 93 octane gas and Added Lucas octane boost

I tried a few other mods that you may read in my other posts, like a Delorto carb and Black window reed setup. Went back to stock carb, becuase I have yet to get a ported head and it was bogging too much for the cylinder to work with. I am doing that next upgrade the engine to a 54cc I found from ADA racing.

Anyhow, today I just got through testing the bike again with the GPS. Straight run, no wind, and I hit 46, and I think I might could go 47-48 if I could tune the carb a little better, and i will add boost tubes and that will do it. My goal is fast starts from a standing position and 50mph...

The X7 bikes are easy to work with and have so many options, but out of the box, they just plain stink!
