this is how i got my numbers diameter NOT circumference check my owners manual pictures this is the correct formula example: 20 inch tire x 25.4=508mm x 3.1416=1,595.93 =1596 speedometer input so! a
13 inch tire x 25.4=330.8mm x 3.1416=1,037.35=1037 speedometer input
i was followed by a car today who told me my speed was 31 flat. which therefore actually makes the stock speedo somewhat accurate. since it was buried and it goes to 30.
I'm trying to get a solid set of instructions to bore out my carb. and trying to locate quality reeds and a full circle stroker crank for 49cc.
still stick between proline or pacsales pipe.
which air filter did you go with.
got the carb tuned to perfection now, amazing response and power throughout the powerband all stock as of now.
THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE DONE TO MY MOTOR WAS REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG SEAL. I WENT WITH THE ADA CONE FILTER. AND YES IM TRYNG TO HIT 40MPH WITH JUST ADD ONS
true ,true,true...i happened to get a pretty good bike from a batch with my friends and i was clocked at 34mph stock.which is not bad at all.all my friends do a respective 30 plus.there is one guy we ride with and he has the x2 completely hooked up(every add on you can buy) also tuned for the best bottom and top end.this guy is the only one that has a faster bike.but he can only get us all on the top end though......way at the top he passes us with ease.he runs 38mph top speed.heheheh.

If you tune the carb right and break the motor in like you are supposed to then look forward to 30 mph. I need to get my digital cam working or buy a new one... I will take a pick of one of the shops project bikes reading 30 maxed out on the speedo with the gear box disengaged, the bike standing still. the reading comes from the motor not the rear wheel or gear box...

My X7 does 33mph (tested with a GPS unit) on free mods- no air cleaner no throttle govenor, and tuned the stock carb a little- test done on level street, about 75deg. out, no wind, 175lb rider with a Garmin Streetpilot GPS. I would say impressive for this cheap thing!
Where is this "throttle governor"? Is it in the throttle itself? I've adjusted my cable at the carb and at the throttle, but haven't seen anything I would consider a "governeor".

look at the top of the carb there should be two screws holding down a bracket, the on toward the back of the bike ( front of the carb ) should have another "L" shaped bracket on it with a screw threw it that hits the trottle when it is open, thats the govener or speed adjuster
do NOT remove that seal from your spark plug. moisture will get into the engine and you will be screwed. to effectively increase compression, just remove that washer on the spark plug and mount it back on.

Thanks! Doesn't sound familiar, but maybe I missed something when I was adjusting the cable down there. I'll check this out tonight.
Also, I took the cover off the throttle and noticed there was a plastic piece up there that was limiting how far I could open the throttle at the grip. I think my use of a washer down on the carb end of the throttle was already allowing me to get as much pull as possible, but now I can take that washer out and use the throttle cable the way it was meant to be used. I sure hope I can find that bracket you are talking about!

Well, I didn't have a screw up there that adjusts the speed, but there was an L shaped piece of plastic that was molded with the plate that sits on top of the carb that was keeping the cable from pulling as far as possible. Nothing a dremel couldn't handle though.
So I've now removed the plastic collar in the throttle itself and the plastic piece down on the top of the carb. That should take care of all of the governors/speed adjusters on the bike. The bike has really livened up after this. No idea what speed I'm getting yet though.
