6.5 wheel conversion parts - blata 2.5

HI folks, john over here in scotland, uk.

owner off a blata 2.5, red ducati 916 style paintwork, having read this and the other uk based minimoto forums it seems changing the small wheels on the baby blata to some off the bigger 6.5 ones from a cag is the way to go.

so okay have sourced a set off new 6.5 inch wheels from a cag and now ready to carry out the wheel swap just as soon as I manage to get the neccesary bolts, spacers etc required.

looking for some help thru this forum for anyone willing to supply the neccesary parts, would obviously been only too willing to cover all costs etc involved.

failing the above is there anyone who could advise me on exactly what I require in terms off materials required ?? how to cut the spacer etc ?? a total diy novice this side hence willing to pay someone to make / supply the parts but as I say if this is not an option will have to have a go myself and an exact but simlified explanation off fitting and parts required would be off great help to me.

do intend to keep the original blata sprocket / brake disc, believe the rear wheel is a simple swap over anyway ?? the new bigger front wheel is fitted with a brake disc, do I keep this or retain the original blata one ??

any offers ?? cash waitting

cheers,
john

Here is what I needed and needed to do to convert mine:

Three washers, 6.5 cag wheels and tires with brake rotors, axle shafts, bearings, chain and a sprocket that will had to fit a cag wheel so the screws can mount correctly. I also used a front cag brake caliper (maybe optional for others to get).

The rear wheel fit with no modifications. I just needed to do adjustments to the wheel and brake. You might need a longer or shorter chain depending on what sprocket you are using so thats where an extra chain and chain breaker tool might come in handy.

For the front, I cut the front fairing in order for the tire to fit through. Some people just deflat the tire when ever they need to take the fairing off. Since this fairing is old I didnt bother me to cut it. I also switched the forks around so the caliper now sits on the other side. This makes the wheel sit foward more so the tire doesnt rub against the fairing. I then had to used 3 washers to make up the space between the forks and wheel bearing. As for the front brake caliper, I found that my stock one had some chattering and rubbing issues so I decided to use a front cag caliper with some modifications done to it. So now I have no problems with the front. This mod makes a difference in handling. You'll be happy with the conversion.

Hope this helps.

Well thanks. I gotta give credit to zero4 and his original 6.5 conversion thread cause thats were I got the "know how" from.

I mounted Sava tires so handling has changed quite a bit. As for performance, the only thing I can think of is that the top speed changed due to the circumference of the 6.5 tire over the stock 5 inchers. The 6.5 conversion is a must for any 2.5 racer.

my daughter has a very fast 2.5 with 6.5 wheels. We just bolted on the whole front end to the cag - WORKS GREAT. The rear end was done with minor shaving\adjusting of the shims
