Blata 2.5 carb jetting and idle.

I'm just wondering what jetting I should use on my blata 2.5 with the sha 14 dellorto. Right now it has a 50 jet and I don't really know what jetting it should have. I live in the d.c. area. I was also wondering what rpm this bike should idle at. Thanks.

A 50 is way too small. It should be around a 68. I wouldn't run it like that.

The best way to know what jet to use is by "reading" the plug. A tan plug is optimal. A grey to white plug is too lean which needs a larger jet. A dark brown to black plug is too rich , which needs a smaller jet.

SOme of the guys we race with on their 2.5's run 67's and 68's. We run a 57 in ours. For some reason ours won't run on anything larger. The others that run their bikes on the fatter jets do have carbon fiber reeds, which may be the difference as our bikes are set up on the original metal reeds. Everything else is the same.

so what # of jets should i get, I'm ordering a bunch of jets for my banshee and this bike. I'm rebuilding the 2.5 right now. Also the clutch housing is broken, does anyone know if the cag housing will work as a replacement, just the housing, not the bell, bearing, or pinion.
