12.11.06 - New from Polini - the 911 GP4 Reverse
DRIVE THE FUTURE
Performance, very fast, more balanced, even more steady when turning, extraordinary handling, able to exploit at the maximum the radius of action when turning, exclusive. Who buys it has all the necessary requirements to be on the podium of the Minibikes Italian championship or for fun on the track. Front fork, chain eye, ignition and exhaust pipe are the most important changes of the new 911 GP4 Polini minibike.
FORK - The new stiff fork has legs of Ø 25mm, made of chromed steel (so no more 24mm). Feet are in aluminium light alloy. The new upper and lower yolk plates are in alloy and are milled from a block. The new fork makes the front side of the 911 GP4 Reverse stronger. It has been improved: stability, when turning, handling and the precision when setting out onto the track. This improved handling means a higher safety level.
CHAIN EYE - The chain eye has been designed in order to repair at the best the chain from possible contacts with the track kerbs. It improves the driving conditions favouring the traction since the chain stays always aligned. The main structure of the eye is in aluminium, the drive chain is made of a mixture of high-resistance tecnoplymers and nylon. This mixture reduces the friction to the minimum and improves chain sliding.
IGNITION AND ELECTRONIC BOX - Polini Reverse engine: it features an ignition with a new 100% brass flywheel (so no more an ignition with internal rotor). The increase of the flywheel mass improves and makes the power output and the power curve a lot better. News for the ignition too: now it's separate from the coil (in the GP3 model it was a whole part) and it optimizes the spark advance administrating the timing with better precision.
EXHAUST SYSTEM - The expansion and the end silencer are brand new and with a racing style. The exhaust system goes through the upper side of the frame and it ends under the rear seat. It improves the acceleration and the power output at every rpm. It is part of the new Technical Rules of the photometric tests of the Italian and European Minibikes Championship. The expansion chamber is made of P04 steel at low carbon content. The end silencer is in light alloy. It is serviceable: it let you change the deadening material easily.
THE NEW 911 GP4 REVERSE POLINI MINIBIKE IS COMING.
December 2003: less than 3 years later its debut, the legendary GP3 reverse Polini minibike opens a new chapter. Similar to the old model in its conception, the new 911 GP4 Reverse Polini minibike is completely different in all the other parts: fork, chain eye, ignition and electronic box, exhaust system, end silencer to end with the details. According to the most advanced technology, the engineers of the factory of Bergamo concentrated themselves on the details that could give the best advantages. These efforts come out not only from improvement of the engine performance, that now has a power of 14hp, but also from the handling and safety driving.
FRAME WITH ADJUSTABLE REAR SIDE
The new 911 GP4 Reverse Polini minibike has a new trellis frame, adjustable in the rear part. The primary structure is made of chrome - molybdenum steel tubes, which increases resistance to torsion and elasticity. The frame tubes section is not homogenous and it has different diameters in different areas in order to grant the highest durability of the most stressed parts, without increasing the weight. The small rear frame is completely new. It can be adjusted in three different positions. This peculiar feature gives to the riders the best driving position and the best weight distribution. It is also possible to adapt the minibikes to the racing track features, giving to the seat a shock-absorbing effect. The frame has a new hydraulic steering damper "with long-travel" which can be adjusted at different positions. It is placed in the front part of the frame, inside the chassis. With this solution we can notice improvement in the balancing, stability, and ease of handling. The position is perfect to grant the highest protection of the damper rod in the event of falls. The foot-pegs rest: they are in die-cast light alloy and they are in an advanced position for a more natural and comfortable riding position. In the completely new chassis, the engine has been placed to lower the centre of gravity to the maximum with the aim to improve handling, stability and turning.
SWING ARM WITH "BANANA" SHAPE LIKE A REAL MotoGP BIKE
The rear swing arm is made of gravity cast aluminium. It is made of 2 arms, screwed up in the central part of the frame. The Banana shape of this important component comes from Polini Motori's experience in the Road World Championship. Its configuration wants to give to the new 911 GP4 "Reverse" minibike the perfect traction at every driving condition. Great novelties for the foot-pegs rest: they are in die-cast light alloy and they are in an advanced position for a more natural and comfortable riding position.
POLINI REVERSE ENGINE: THE IGNITION EVOLUTION
The heart of the 911 GP4 Reverse Polini minibike is the best performing and newest version of the famous Polini "Reverse" engine. The new engine distinguishes itself for the drastic reduction of the moment of inertia. The crankcase has smaller dimensions, it is compact and made of advanced technical solutions. The "Reverse" engine has a bore of 36 mm and a stroke of 39,2 mm which let you to exploit at the maximum the displacement of 39,9cc, according to the Italian FM regulations. Crankcase and cylinder are in light alloy. It has direct reed valve admission in the crankcase. The cooling pump is inside the crankcase (so it is no more in the outside part and vulnerable); in this way the cooling system is extremely efficient. The power is of about 14hp. The starter is brand new but always with pulling-cable, according to the Regulations. The "Reverse" engine is equipped with a PHBG 15 "Dell'Orto" carburettor. A new gears serie is placed in the crankcase; they have been studied to reduce the transmission ratio. This technical solution is the main characteristic of the "Reverse" engine. It also allows to use greatly sliding transmission system. The sprockets are smaller (and with less moment of inertia) while the front sprocket is bigger, with 10 teeth and no more 6. The clutch is outside to improve its cooling and it is self-ventiled. The radiator improve the loss of heat.
STEERING DAMPER - The frame has a new hydraulic steering damper which can be adjusted at different positions. With this solution we can notice improvement in the balancing, stability, and ease of handling. Its position is perfect to grant the highest protection of the damper rod in the event of falls.
BRAKING SYSTEM - It has a completely new mechanical braking system. It has a new floating front brake disc of 148 mm with an anti-shock disc-guard. Even the front brake disk is new. The rear has a diameter of 130mm. The disc plane is characterised by radial cuts that improve the cooling system. The rear and front brake callipers are new. They have a sliding system driven by special bushes. The calliper bracket of the rear brake is new too. The bigger friction surface of the brakes makes the braking system safer.
RIMS - They are identical to the sporting bikes ones. They have a three spokes design and they are made of Ergal and milled from a block. They have the characteristic to let the assembly of tubeless tyres. Measures: 90/65-R6,5 for the front one, while 110/50 - R6,5 for the rear one.
STYLING - The styling is aggressive: to be a miniature MotoGP bike. All the parts heve been studied to integrate with the special rear mudguard. The look red-white is the same of the "Desmosedici" one. It is modern and tough. Dimensions and weights comply with the FMI Regulations of the Italian Championship. Maximum length: 960mm., fairing width 240mm., seat height 425mm., fuel tank capacity 2,2 litres, weight 22 Kgs.
910 GP4 REVERSE POLINI MINIBIKE: 4,2 HP FOR THE JUNIOR RIDERS WHO WANT TO GROW UP
The new 911 GP4 Reverse Polini minibike for the riders with Junior Licence is born from the need to place at the disposal of the younger riders, a really top class performing, handling and stable machine to start racing on the track. Its features are similar to the GP3 model. The engine is the up-date version of the famous Polini air cooled engine. It has 4,2 hp. The new stiff fork has legs of Ø 25mm, made of chromed steel (so no more 24mm), the same fitted on the 911 GP4 one. Feet are in aluminium light alloy. The new upper and inferior plates are in alloy and are milled from a block. The new fork makes the front side of the 910 GP4 Reverse stronger. It has improved: stability, when turning, handling and the precision when setting out on the track. So this means a higher safety level.
TECHNICAL NOVELTIES
Two pieces of news will be introduced in the 2007 FMI Rules for the Italian Minibikes Championship: 1-The Senior riders will ride on the MIDIMOTO models, 10% bigger in their size compared to the standard ones. 2-Minibikes 910 will be ridden by riders with Junior licence only. In view of the above mentioned news, Polini underlines and pushes the boundaries of the minibike segment. Polini is careful to pick out every technical need of the rider and to develope its new models to comply with the FMI Rules.
