Free Blata 2.5

I just picked up a Blata 2.5 for free today w/stand. its dark blue needs a paint job and has a 3" crack on the front of the fairing. (I'll post pictures ASAP) now I need to learn more about blata's since it didn't come with a manual.

Nice deal! You can't beat free. 2.5s are very nice bikes. They are not exactly a jump from a Cag but on top end, they fly. Enjoy the bike. I've heard something about turning the tires backwards for best handling or something along those lines. Anyone want to elaborate?

hey guys i had to Czech myself as well hehe.....i went from two cags to a used blata 2.5 in two months. I just won a blata 2.5 off of ebay for $305.00 from a guy in my area so i can pick it up and inspect it and no shipping handling fee. what can us 2.5 riders do to increase speed like we did to our Cags. Can we rig it up ourselves rather then sending it to Frank G. Let me know, I want to beat all those Cag riders now hehe.

I would say you are already beating those Cag riders. The Bluebird motor is a great reliable motor. It's not exactly something you are going to beat Elite13s, DMs, GRCs with but that's not what you are planning on doing either so all is well.

Frank does a great job but i've heard a lot of it can be done by average people. Talk to PcP. He sent his motor to Gianini. See if it was worth it. He worked VERY hard on the 2.5 and claims it hauls butt. The most important thing here is that the Bluebird LASTS. Ask any 2.5 owner, they'll tell you.

No problem. One more thing, we are all in it for having fun so let's not make the number incentive in getting this bike for beating Cags, please. I have a Cag and respect it just as much as my Elite13. Without my Cag, I wouldn't have the 13.

I agree, the 2.5 scene needs to blow up again. A lot of potential in these little suckers.

here are the pics I promised

I took these pictures last night. its dirty, the fairing is cracked with bondo LOL could of been fixed with fiber glass repair (not worried about it) and the throtle cable mount has a huge crack on the plastic. he planned on repainting the fairing (notice the sand job) I'm thinking of getting another fairing for it anyhow. I'm just going to keep this on for now. other problems I've run into since last night are back disk break is bent a little bit, missing one bolt for the fairing, the exhaust was loose, pull start had 1 inch of slack, and the kill switch don't work (sometimes). but hey, its free...

Those are all minor problems which can be fixed with ease. You probably won't even use rear brakes so removing them would be ok too. Everything else looks good though.

Congratulations on the bike, bro.

If I may, AdvancedMoto is offering close-outs on Blata 2.5 fairings at beyond ridiculously low prices. Stock is limited, so you'd need to act fast.

If I'm not mistaken, complete sets of the Benelli Replica are still available. The rest are miscellaneous front-ends and rear-ends.

Contact Bill at AdvancedMoto@aol.com for exact pricing.

If memory serves me correctly, I still have a Benelli replica decal set, specifically made for the 2.5, which retails for $20. If you buy the set from Advanced, send me a PM and I'll send you the decals for free.

If you're unfamiliar with the Benneli replica, send me a PM and I'll respond with a picture of my GRC Benneli replica.

Cheers

yeah I'd like to see pictures of your bike. post them up when you get the chance?

so far, I've broke the pull start rope (few days ago) haven't had time to replace it. I'm not sure if my frame is bent a bit but its easy to lean left and make hard turns compared to leaning right. not sure if this is normal? I've taken apart the whole bike but the frame looks straight. (might be the forks?)

blata 2.5 is faster, mid range to top end vs my cag. (both stock) the cag pulls on the low end alot better then the blata 2.5 tho (straight) over all, I think the blata is way better then the cag. (IMO)

update!!! :)

its been awhile since I've messed around with my blata 2.5 (ever since my pullstart rope kept breaking) and been racing my ff cag at local races at the meantime. with the cag scene blowing up and the 2.5 fading away, I thought I'd be different? so I busted out my 2.5 from my garage (abit dusty from sitting around for several months) with no cash to spare due to the holidays and with the spare parts from cags laying around. the first thing was fix the rope problem! then get on the 6.5" wheels conversion, that i've always wanted to do but always ran into the problem of getting the front wheel to not hit the fairing. taking the cag hf whole front end and flipping it so that the disc brake is on the opposite side gave me a 1 1/2" gap between the fairing and wheel but ran into a problem of putting the 60T sprocket onto the cag rear wheel, the bolts were offset. so I took the 68T from the cag (easy fix!) now with the full 6.5" wheel conversion gave it a more stable handling.

knowing that blata 2.5's suck for low end compared to cags and once again low on cash but tons of spare cag parts. hearing that the stage one kit comes with a 68 jet, air filter + v stack, and clutch springs (some with dual reed cages) coming up with the idea that the 2.5 is lacking air and fuel. I thought of getting a dellorto 14/14 but with the money problems... I took the cag carb/intake manifold, and port and matched 15.5mm, 3mm reed spacer, triple tapered needle, and adjustable jet. with this mod alone, it gave me overall better low/mid/high end pull (also louder!!!) low end performance was the one I was looking for but I was happy that it pulled mid and high even more.

my 2.5 didn't come with the new 2004 pipe (thought it did) so I took a stock cag pipe and did the pipe mod. (1" off header and 2 1/2 to belly and added adjustable stinger inside the silencer) orginally wanted to mod the stock blata pipe but I was kinda iffy. since it worked well with the cag pipe, I'm going to do it to the 2.5 pipe and mount that on instead. this is another mod that gained over all performance!

I'm actually still looking for the racing springs for the 2.5 since it doesn't cost as much as a carb or exhaust but I need to do more reasearch cuz I don't know which spring rate would work best for me. I used 1.5's on my cag but it may not be the same for my 2.5?

I've also taken out one of the piston rings and used yamabond as my base gasket. giving me faster rpm response and even higher compression. (mods that I've also done to my cag)

for small/medium tracks i use 6/68 and for tracks that have a bit longer straightaways I use 7/68.

just thought I'd share this to all blata 2.5 owners. at first hated this bike with small minor problems it kept giving me but once that was worked out! I started to love this bike and the potential it has! now my cag is collecting dust hehehe... and being sold!

(below is a picture of my friends "red/white" 2.5 my 2.5 "black" before the mods)
