That's a good question there both very nice bikes. But I would say the Giannini R1. Just because Giannini had his hands on it and he puts together some of the best motors.

DM hands down. The quality on both is excellent, but the Giannini is a very large, stable bike. The DM handling is hands down better. Having ridden both, I would never own an R1 or R2. However, I'm biased because I have a DM mini as my race bike...big bikes just aren't my thing.

Well I received the R1 and it handles great & is resonably fast.I went out on a limb and also purchased a DM Brutale so I guess I'll compare for myself!! Cant wait for it to arrive!

We'll just call you money bags from now on!! Did you get new bikes or used bikes? Let us know how they compare to each other.

I love being right...go hit up a twisty course on both bikes and ignore any power differences. I'm willing to bet you say "DM 4EVER"!!

The DM is very cramped and you cannot sit off as much. Although the frame is so stiff yet responsive that there is no use, just turn the bike. The r1 is very roomy. You can push your butt back while riding and tuck the straights. Stay away from the r2 though.

Re: GianniniR1 or DM Brutale

Everyone will have their preference for the tiny tight turning bikes as opposed to a longer, more stable (forgiving) and comfortable bike. I have ridden the tiny bikes and yes, they turn like no other. If the tracks that my club raced on were nothing but turns, the short bikes are the way to go. If the track opens up with sweepers and fast straights (or you are just a bigger guy), do yourself a favor and get a more stable bike (GRC RR, full size DM, Giannini R1, Polini 911). If you have the luxury of both set one up for short twisty tracks and set up the other bike for the more open ones.

Kevin P. what did you not like about the Giannini R2? I rode it and thought it was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was it was next to impossible to get the rear to slide, if you wanted it to. The titanium frame really hugs the track especially over bumps better than the chromoly.

Re: GianniniR1 or DM Brutale

Well,Both bikes were purchased used after selling a couple china / euro reps(no money bags here). Both the R1 & DM had been previously raced so I disassembled them every nut & bolt, cleaned, painted,New pmt tires, etc, checked over & tuned each bike to perfect running condition like new. The R1 has a 50cc 5port BZM built by giannini himself. The Dm has a 50cc 5 port Polini ported & built by Mid-South. After some break-in time,I re-jetted the carb on both and got to do some real comparison. As stated by your comments I agree. The DM handled like no other! This bike is forgiving & Lets you do just about anything you want.I have pushed it as hard as I can and it handles perfect(especially on a small track) The R1 is amazingly fast(giannini power)and I find myself fighting wheelies more than anything. It is very stable and handles well but does not "turn in" as quickly as the DM.I am going to make some adjustments to the R1(move the fork tubes up a little)to quicken the steering.

Thanks again for your advise. I am very happy with both of my purchases.
