Picked up my first real pocket bike yesterday, Blata elite 11

Hey everyone. I have been an active member of the cag and midbike forums, and i am happy to say i now have a real pocket bike. I meet this guy on ebay, and we agreed to 630$. It sounde fishy at first cause he wanted a deposit to "hold" the bike. Well after a while i talked him into paying in pickup. Yesterday i took the 3.5 hour trip there and waited for him at a gas station for over 30 minutes. When he arrived he pulled it out of his car, put it on the stand and told me to fire it up. I felt the engine, it was cold, gave it a pull and it started right up. Runs perfect. And he said since he was over 30 minutes late just to give him 610$. Its got a custom marble paint job. It needed footpegs, which you can see in the pictures. I just put what i had laying around on from my cag. I will be making some movies in the next few days.

Im contemplating buying the BZM Intake manifold and reed assembly from dc minimoto *** com, cost 100$, but its about the only upgrade i can get. Any ideas on performance increases would be appreciated.

you might find that the bizeta intake upgrade might not help you at all. First suggestion would be to make sure the jetting is correct. This is done by removing your spark plug and checking it for the proper color. Since the Elite 11 is an air cooled polini powerplant, the reeds can be upgraded, and the clutch is something that takes up 90% of owners "fiddling with their bike" time. Suggest a Zocchi 2 shoe or 3 shoe carbonium from Tom. You may find that a steering damper is necessary...coming from a Chinese bike you may not feel the need, but the front end could be a bit wobbly feeling and a steering damper will give you more confidene in the corners. In it's class, the Elite 11 isn't too bad of a bike. I had an Elite 13 and rode the stuffin' out of it. It was a little tough to get used to, but ended up being not as hard to get used to as the BMS race bikes I run now. If you have any questions, drop me a line.

oh - and i forgot - if you find that the brakes aren't enough for you, put mountain bike brake levers on it, preferably Avid speed dials. At least twice the stopping power.

you will also have to alter your riding style. You will need to lean over the front to keep the front tire planted then move you weight from front to rear when cornering depending on your weight, course and speed

thanks for all the tips guys. i realized when i first got on and accelerated away that i better lean forward. On a cag you can sit straight up, or even lean back a little. And to do a wheelie requires a little effort, it requires zero effort to wheelie on this blata.

Is BZM the same as bizeta? I was talking about the BZM intake manifold and reed cage, but if thats the same as bizeta i will hold off on it.

If this thing is only 6.2hp stock, and only has a race pipe, i can't imagine keeping the front wheel down on a 12hp model!

Congrats on the bike. That bike is very amazing. You know what's weird is that bike with that very engine will beat the 6.2 Polini bike. I saw it first hand at our local track.

Must be the Blata frame.

the adjustible screw on the carb, is that idle or fuel? i messed with it cause the bike couldn't idle, as it wa set to low. However i screwed the screw in and out, and there was no difference unless i went the whole way in. Also, the choke seems a little funny. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks.

Idle screw for sure. Choke should turn off meaning allow air to come back in when you gas it. No need to turn it off manually. Dellortos rock.

one more question, before i mix fuel i noticed it says 20:1 on the gas cap. It this right? i don't want to mess anything up, but i thought it was 50:1.

Does anyone here in the forums have a bike like this? i would like to hear from someone with experience on what mods work, and which are better to pass up. Thanks.

use 50:1 of hi quality oil, i use amsoil, but any of the other oils will be fine, don't be cheap (i spend about $20 on 2 quarts)i have an 11, needs the manifold changed, i don't have to much seat time on it as of yet. it will be my proddy bike for next season,
change your aircleaner, other then that just get used to it, bike has enough power to toss you off the back, if you don't already have one get a tach (you NEED this for clutch adjust), once you are used to the bike then look at doing some upgrades, you can convert the bike to a w/c if you wanted, bigger carb, swap the head, it's a polini motor so their are numerous things that can be done, if you plan on racing check with your local grps rules before doing anything
