Re: Sava verus PMT

Sava, in my opinion, sucks. I prefer PMT as my first choice. Vee Rubber as my second. and Sava last.

Re: Sava verus PMT

PMT makes the best tire, hands down. Why? because they have years and years of research and development in the production of their tires. They mount the best on the rims, they hold their shape good. They stick like crazy. ( I prefer T41's) I run almost a complete season on PMT's in south Florida with racing all yr round.

The vee rubbers stick. stick stick stick. They are a pain to mount and dismount. But they stick like a mother.

Sava. not a terrible tire. Just not my cup of tea. They have a different profile which helps turning in quicker. But you can get that same effect from mounting 2 PMT fronts on the bike instead of 1 front and 1 rear.

That is pretty much on the money and here's my 2cents. It is all around hard to beat the PMT tire for durability and grip, even though I raced the past two seasons almost exclusively on Vee Rubber tires. I have never tried the new PMTs, but the T41's are fantastic after being reaquainted with them last year. They don't delaminate, have almost the grip of a Vee Rubber and are easier to get on. I'll rate the PMTs number one.

Vee Rubbers stick like the dickens from the first lap and have a better profile. They even do pretty good on a wet track when fairly new. You will break more beads putting them on, even when heated than the other tires. The last batch of Vee rubbers I had seemed to have a slightly different compound or they were old. I drift around sweepers and have destroyed the rear tires in one race on my Open class bike. During a race, I wouldn't consider myself at a disadvantage on PMTs or the Vs. I rate these second.

My observations on the Sava tires are; they take longer to warm up, have a great profile, don't have the feedback at the limit of the other two tires, stick great when hot, the rubber gets HARD FAST (which limits the number of races on a set) and are fairly hard to get on. I rate these third.

I thought the profile changed on the SAVA tyres with the newer II having more of a "PMT profile". So in that case I suppose you would have to say which Sava.

It would be the older SAVA tires, as I don't think anyone out in my region was racing them after Denny quit the SAVA tire sales business. I would say try them all, if the funds are available. If you can only try one, try the PMTs.

Re: Sava verus PMT

Also just wondering if the new T43 could withstand a very hot ground? Or the T42 would be a better choice. We all know about the T41 and the MRA,B,C but clueless about the new sava and pmt.

Re: Sava verus PMT

SAVA MCO2 have a profile very simular to the PMT tyres, rear only.
The front is still the same as the old Sava's so far that we have tested.
PMT 43's are a softer compound than the 41's.
43's will only last a short time if used in temp's higher than 15 degrees.
The thing to remember is that the softer the compound the shorter the life of a tyre.
The best way to select a tyre is to select a tyre to suit the rider's weight, style and also the weather conditions and what power output the bike has.
We tend to use Sava tyres, a B on the rear and an A on the front.
This is in conditions of 20 to 35 degrees.
These Sava tyres have given us the best results on a Blata Elite 14 WRS with a BZM topend kit developing around 16 to 16.5 hp using a 56kg rider fully dressed up at 67kg.
1022 air, temp 22c, humity 52% main jet 110 in a PHVB 19mm, idle 50.
Under these conditions this bike is the most powerful thing many have riden, including many GRC RR riders.
Of course the jetting and bike settings change with rider weight and weather conditions.

But so far the Sava tyres have been the best for us, with better lean angle, great grip and they last a good amount of time.
But wear can be compromised if you want them to stick well.
I find the Sava tyres do not go hard over time as previously mentioned.
Maybe they just don't ride enough and expect them to last longer than 6 months, I don't, we just wear them out quicker with the amount of riding we do.

Re: Sava verus PMT

They still grip excellent though compared to some of the cheaper variant savas and zhonga tyres.
