ZPF engine info

I bought a 50cc ZPF Pronto Gara engine for a microkart project. The part number on the ZPF box was COD 204 004. I installed a delorto 18mm carb and a bizeta pipe. The seller stated the HP at 15. He says the engine has race crank, billet head, 5 port polini cylinder, hand ported at ZPF.

I certainly believe the seller. But cant find any information about ZPF engines, specs, etc on the web. Could it be said, that this is just as powerful as any 50cc engine out there? Does anyone else have this engine? Does it rip or what?

The one and only Frank Giannini who is building top of the line Euro style pocketbikes in the US is using the ZPF 40 and 50cc top ends on his open class bikes......if that tells you anything......

What else do you specifically want to know?, the sellers description of the engine is indeed true and accurate. It is a 50cc "race prepared" (pronto gara) engine with ZPF bottom end, Polini cylinder ported by Zanetti, ZPF billet head, and stuffed crank. In his own bike it runs a 19mm carb, but we have some very fast 50's running even 17.5mm so 18 should be OK.

It is indeed a sharp engine, but if you have any particular question I'll do my best to answer it.

Thanks MMS. Good information. One thing I miss in the Mini Moto sport is being able to read magazines or books and get general and detailed information about engines and bikes. Even the excellent Pocketbike Planet is kinda lacking ZPF information.

If there were only a monthly publication with racing and hardware articles, outlining tracks, racing events, write-ups on pocketbikes and engines, mods, etc. I would surely subscribe.

Thanks again,
Gary
