Getting started.

I would like to get started in racing. All I have a cag that I am constantly modifying and tuning, so I don't expect to be winning races, but I would like to compete. I would like to know what I need to get started, what the requirements are to be allowed to race and where I should go to get a little track time under my belt before I jump into a race. I live in Arlington, so the go-kart track in Denton is not too far. If they have any days that we are allowed to ride out there please let me know. Or if there is anywhere else that I can give racing a try and possibly start competing please let me know.
