49cc giovanni / zeimini dirt bike gearing

A couple of friends and I bought 3 of these little dirt bikes, neat little bikes but seem to be geared way too high. The gear ratios are 10x27 and 17x54 if I figured corectly equals 9.99 to1 .Just wondering if anyone has a idea what an ideal ratio would be for light off-road.

I changed the front sprocket. Go down 3 teeth. It will give you alot better torque. Mine took off alot better after changing mine. The top end when from around 33 to 27mph, but was well worth it for the torque.

Where did you get the sprocket and do you know what pitch it is?

I have sold the bike a while ago, but I think the stock one is 17 tooth and I believe that I put a 14 tooth on it. the site that I got it off of is: http://www.scooterparts4less.com/web...et_17tooth.htm
