Unhappy Cobra S4 problem

I just bought a cobra S4 off of www.usa-pocket-bikes.com and I mixed a 30:1 gas/oil mixture for the break in period. It starts up pretty easy, but when I put the choke lever back up(I read the manual and it says when you start it the choke should be down and after a little while put the choke back up),it stalls out. It idles kind of loud. I let it idle for about 10min to warm it up, and when I get on it and try to go it hardly even gets me down the hill.

Please help me. This is really starting to get me mad and I don't know what to do.

Re: Cobra S4 problem

its supposed to be the opposite. lever goes up when you start your bike, keep it up for 10 seconds, then the lever goes down. you wait a minute for the bike warm up, then you ride!

Also you have to change your idle. there should be a screw with a spring around sticking out the left side of the carb. using a flat screwdriver, turn it clockwise for higher idle, and counter-clockwise for lower idle. you want the idle to be as low as possible without the bike dying out.

I hope a helped you out a bit.

Re: Cobra S4 problem

ok. i cleaned out the carb. and the gas tank. I found out that there were plastic shavings that got clogged somewhere so that the gas wasnt getting through. I cleaned everything out and put eveything back together. I put some gas in it and it started right up....i went half throttle and i was going at a pretty decent speed. I rode it for about 1/2 hr and shut it off so it wouldnt overheat or anything. the next day i was gonna start it up again, but i noticed that gas was leaking out of the black box connected to the carb (im pretty sure that this is the air filter). Gas was leaking all over. Now(i havent really tried because gas is leaking out of the air filter...)it doesnt start. Im sure i could get it started but why is gas leaking out of the air fiilter???????

Re: Cobra S4 problem

are you sure it isn't comming out of the overflow tube? i had a similar problem where the float forks in the carb weren't bent proporly and it was just dumping gas out of the overflow. i messed around with them for a while but got sick of fiddling with it so i just got a HP carb with a good intake and a new manafold and it runs so much better now.

Re: Cobra S4 problem

you might be right, but it looks like its coming from the air filter though. I think it was also leaking out of the overflow tube so....you could be right

Re: Cobra S4 problem

ok try bending the forks you should be able to find a good site on which way to bend them if you search for "float forks" you could also have a piece of plastic stuck in you float valve leaving it open or it could just be stuck

Re: Cobra S4 problem

ok, well i havent done anything with the float forks yet but i put some gas into it and tried to start it(just to see if it can still start)when i turned the gas valve on gas just started to come out of the overflow tube like crazy and it wouldnt start. Before when i last posted a message on here i thought gas was coming out of the air filter but i was wrong, its just poring out of the overflow tube.

Re: Cobra S4 problem

I havent done anything to my Pocket quad for a long time...and i havent looked into the float bowl yet to see what was the matter with the "float Forks." I just happened to look into this problem again.

I was just wondering if a piece of rubber from the gas valve could be stuck in the float bowl. Because when i used my quad i would shut off the valve every time i got done using it and after a while the rubber started to rip apart. So im guessing that i could have a little piece of rubber messing everything up.
