Re: Just bought 2 of these mini quads

I have one just like it except for the exhaust and the hand grip welded into frame above the exhaust. That's an S4 with independant suspension.
It's completely gutless til you get it up to about 5 mph, dead slow off the line. I put a big bore kit in mine and changed the sprockets but still need to mod the exhaust.

That has the BF05 chain and sprockets, I tried to find a larger rear sprocket but no luck. Small ones are easy to find but I needed more low to mid range pull to get me going. Those things are unstable at higher speed anyway so I thought I'd shed high speed for more poop so I could broody around on dirt. I figured if I could get a snappy response in the 5 to 15 mph range with a top of about 20 then that would make for a pretty good time. Boring on asphalt maybe but fun in firm dirt or light gravel.

I changed over to 25H chain and sprockets. I used a 6 tooth drive sprocket and clutch assy from a cag and put a 78 tooth sprocket on back. those just bolt on with no mods. That BF05 rear you have measures about 5 1/2" dia. (if I remember right) and the 78 tooth 25H is 6 1/2" dia.

I've had no problems running the lighter chain cuz that's just a cag engine anyway and with the lower gearing there is less stess on the chain. It's still a bit gutless off the line but it hooks up quicker now and at that point will out accelerate my cags til it maxes out at about 20-22 mph

Re: Just bought 2 of these mini quads

Well got them and after douching out the plastic in the fuel tanks they both started up in 3-4 pulls once i figured out which way the on/off button worked . LOL . the crappy part is they have a catalytic converter built into the pipe and that thing gets smoking hot. 521 Degrees. so its likely to get cut off soon. the head runs about 290deg but I cant imagine that with oil going throught he converter at 25:1 that it would take long before its plugged up . and Im sure its robbing power anyway !!! So its soon to go bye bye. it take a bit to get going with my 200# butt on it. were heat cycling both of them now and getting them broke in . My 4 yr old gets to see it today Im sure he will have a blast on it

Re: Just bought 2 of these mini quads

Man these things are way overgeared talk about smoking a clutch easily . and to top it off its got a #35 chain not the reg #25 . I guess iI will be converting to #25 with a 6 /74 sprocket to give it some grunt

that sounds good man i was wandering how those are what all do you have to do to make a grown man able to ride those. i heard the frame is too weak to support a 200lb man

Re: Just bought 2 of these mini quads

Im 205 and it does ok with me on it out in the gravel but as far as in the grass it would need geared down because it slips the clutch too much in the rough . but I can tell you it will run between 25-27 mph with me on it once it gets going. I think it needs geared down and a banshee clutch . the frame is pretty well constructed the front suspension sucks as it travels about 1/2" due to the shotty shock on the front the rear shock is plentiful with travel unless your overweight like me :P .
