I'll just toss this in, most motors put down MORE power across a wider power band WITH a properly setup exhaust than none at all. Pipes, even 'straight through' units do indeed supply back pressure, and more importantly can supply a scavenging effect (Hence the expansion chamber) that can actually pull exhaust out and fresh mix in FASTER than the motor can sans pipe. That means MORE power.

doh

why do people hink you can go faster w/o the muffler?

on a dragster this it true and on 4 stokes it is ok

2 stroke mo way it needs the pipe to work corectly

dont say something unless you know it

Nothing in it that will break? have you ever seen a rod snap , a crank snap, a hole in a piston? 2 stroke or 4 stroke, theres stuff in them that will break

A dragster runs a tuned pipe. In it's case, the pipe is tuned for 1 situation, WFO at peak HP. Take those short headers off, or alter their length, and that motor will loose power.
