| Modded my 47cc Giovanni dirt bike My dad gave me a 47cc dirt bike, I believe it is a Giovanni. I could not get it to take off with me sitting on it (the clutch just burnt). So that prompted me to take it apart and before you know it I modded everything I could modify without any parts. Here's what I did...
Took off the air filter
Bored out the carb, bored out the stock jet and adjusted the needle.
Port matched the intake manifold to the carb (now approx 15 to 16mm)
Ground the stock reed block so it would open the reeds further
Cut the stock pipe off just after the fake expansion chamber
Took out the head gasket
Ported the exhaust port and transfer ports
Added a boost port and matching port window on piston
Lightened the piston, connecting rod and crankshaft
Added chainsaw clutch springs to stock clutch with pieces of chain
Lightened clutch drum and flywheel (no fins needed here)
Advanced flywheel timing
With all this done, the bike makes quite a bit more power, but the stupid transmission takes alot of power to turn, also the clutch drags a little still (because of the dog leash chain). Has anyone taken the transmission off and replaced it with a 6 tooth direct drive drive from the Giovanni superbike. I think alot more power would be freed up from this setup. Also there is a 9 or 10 tooth front drive sprocket in the transmission, replacing this with a 5 tooth would make it a killer off the line. Also does a pipe add more power than just a straight pipe? |
