Has anyone tried to make a turbo for a 49cc pocket quad or even know if it is possible to get one?
you'd have to have a heck of a machine shop and skill to make one, none out there that I know of plus I don't think these lil engines would even spool one up....
I have acess to a shop, so that part is not a problem. My buddy and I are both welders for a cusotm coach shop. we were trying to figure out if you could use an electric duct fan from model airplains instead of using the exhaust. we were also thinking if you rigged a dimmer switch from the battery to the throttle so that the fan would keep pace with the engine instead of it being on high speed when the quad is idleing. let me know what you think.
sounds cool but do you think that the fan will turn that many rpms to spool the turbo up, instead get a small but powerful enough fan to mount over the intake filter and mount a switch, in doing this you have an artificial supercharger!!! and it isi cheaper than a mini turbo that might not spool up enough to make any kind of boost, what kind of bike is this going on??
I guess I didn't really make it clear in my last post was what minimotoinatl said. The inline duct fan it will go between the carb and the airfilter. I've just about got all the parts I need to do it. I'll make the the first one out of pvc pipe and if it works then I will make one out of stainless steel and tig it together. here is a pic of what it's going on. I'm not really sure what type of pocket quad it is, it the manual is calls it a mini quadard.
