Cobra S4 questions....

Hey guys, I had a few questions for whoever has a cobra S4 or a quad in general. I am new to this whole seen of pocket quads and I was wondering anyone had any mods done to theirs or if they know if the bolt on mods will make a difference? What mods should be considered and where's a good place to get them? I just want to be realistic with the performance aspect before purchasing. I spoke to a person on the phone at pocketquads and they stated that the quad is pretty much maxed out stock! Is this true?

Thanks a ton!!!

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

i just got my cobra about a week ago (after waiting a month because it was on backorder). first of all it is very fun. i really enjoy it. the only mod i have made is a hp air filter. about the mods, you can get anything that fits a 47cc cag. i am pretty sure they are the same exact engine. you can get the parts from davesmotors.com. they are very reliable and have fast shipping.

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

Thanks for responding.....how fast did it go right out of the box? Did you feel any difference in performance by putting on the air filter? Thanks- D

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

i have not gone full speed yet because i am still on the break in period. so far i have been using it for 'stunts'. catwalks and bicycles are very fun on this quad. about the air filter, i could not tell much of a difference, but i know it allows the engine to 'breathe' easier. the air filter also goes well with many other mods. if i were you i would make my first mod an hp air filter from ddm.

http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product2120.html ------> this is the air filter i have.

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

Hey....I have had some problems with mine and I only weigh 165. They are pretty fast and alot of fun to ride. If you do decide to get one dont buy it from Pocketbikesunlimited.com!!! When my quad came...the frame was bent and you couldnt ride it full throttle. It feels like it is going to throw you off! If i could take it all back id go for the 110cc!!!

^TBH, if you did some frame work, ect...you could probably fit a 110cc engine on there.

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

you have to break the motor in. You shouldn't go full throttle for 4 or 5 tanks of gas. I went about 1/2 throttle for 5 tanks, mixed 25:1, and now I run 50:1 and the quad rips.

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

Does anyone know what motor comes with this quad. MPR & others advertise it with a 49cc. But after looking around this site, it appears it has a 47cc. I bought mine from MPR. surprise, surprise no one there has a manuel.

my daughter has a cobra s4, my husband and i ride it and my husband is 270 lbs and 6'2 and it rides real good, although something is wrong with it now, when you start it up it takes off by its self....without even touching the throttle, does any1 know what this could be?

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

broken clutch spring or an air leak causing the engine to rev up.

spray wd40 around the engines intake set up if it drops in idle theres your leak.

take off the clutch housing (has a small pinion gear driving the chain) and check to see if theres a loose or broken spring on the clutch.

Re: Cobra S4 questions....

yeah its gotta be a stuck cable pulling the barrel open in the carb causing it to accelerate on its own,or just like the other person said a broken clutch spring could also be causing this probelm if you dont have a local shop wich u can purchase replacment parts "if needed" i highly recommend partsforscooters.com im a constant customer of theres and they have pretty much anything that you may need.good luck
