how to oil cvt and change pinion gear??

i want to know how to oil the cvt transmission and change the pinoin gear. To change the pinion gear, do i need to open the cvt? what kind of tools do i need?? Also i prefer low end so which sprocket setup should i use.?

Hey johnny to change the oil in the CVT there is a fill plug on top of the CVT that has a small breather hole in it. Than there is a drain plug on the bottom that is about half the size of the fill plug. Fill it with either some gear oil or some 10w 30 or what ever you have around it really don't matter. When I use to race my modded X-2 I found the stock gearing to work the best. But to take off the front sprocket there is a clip and you can get it off by prying it off or with some snap ring pliers. If you want to change it try a 14 tooth. So what mods dhave you done to your X-2?

i dont think mines is called an x-2, what is an x-2 any way??? i got a mini quad and they told me it has a cvt gearing in there. thanks for the response

O ok so what you have is a gear reduction tranny and not a CVT. So all you can do is open up the tranny and clean out the old grease and replace it with some new grease than.
