Leaking Carberator

I have a Quattro A4.
At th bottom of the carberator their is a clear tube that usually has no gas comming out of it. Randomly there has now is gasoline rapidly leaking from it. I tried just pinching the tube at the end but it very notibly messed up the performance.. HELP

Re: Leaking Carberator

You have dirt in your fuel system. Most likely it has caught itself in the fuel shut off valve inside the float bowl. Take off the carb to clean it properly. If you are not mechanically inclined, take it to a carb guy to have it tuned and cleaned. If you are, take the float bowl off, pull the pin out of the float spring and the valve will come out easily. Clean all parts thoroughly as though you are a heart doctor. Before you install it again, make sure your fuel system is completely clean, because from the factory, there is always some kind of dirt or something in the system. Put a nice, big, new fuel filter on it and fuel line, any parts store will have this.

Re: Leaking Carberator

How did you screw up the old one?

How does it run rough at idle?

I could be 2 things:

1. Your idle speed is too high. Look for a gold screw on the side of your carb, and turn it clockwise to speed the idle, or counter-clockwise to slow down the idle.

2. Check over all of your bolts on your bike, they may not been put on properly. If it is still and issue, find where the bike (in your case quad) vibrates from, and install rubber washers to absorb the vibration.

I you still have trouble then look over the carb you bought and make sure its clean inside.

Re: Leaking Carberator

hey guys, i ran into the same problem as this guy with the leaking carb. the 3 inch tube that hangs out the carb(the "overflow valve" i think) is leaking fuel like crazy. i have to close the fuel line valve to keep it from leaking. i read what yall said on how it could be dirt in the carb, but how could that cause the carb to leak, its almost like the gas is just running straight though the carb and out that tube. I also tried plugging up the tube and all that does is cause the gas to leak out the airfilter. And i messed with the idle screw so i cant get it to start up, which im not really worried about right now i just want the leaking to stop, and also if there is a "number of turns out" the carb that the idle screw should be at. please get back to be on some info on how to repair this thing, im tired of this thing leaking gas all over my garage =/

Re: Leaking Carberator

ok guys these are verry simple carbs to fix the reasonwhy the overflow tube is leaking is because your flooat is stuck or peirced therefore it is not floting up to push those two little legs that push a plug pin and shuts off the fuel entry.....

step 1

take the bowl off the carb the jet, float, legs and pin are now exposed..

step 2

clean everything with carb cleaner

step 3

replace all components back the same way they were when you took them apart...

if your over flow is still leaking you might have to adjust the legs

repeat step 1
then bend the little legs down a little bit and repeat step 3

if your carb still leaks or you did not bend the little legs enough or the plug pin is deffective(the little spring loaded pin with rubber on the tip)

to verify if it is still good make some gas flow through the carb and the try lifting the legs softly if gas flow stop its fine if it does not the plug pin might be defective...... if you still need more help hit us up
cheers

Re: Leaking Carberator

I have the quattro a4 too i have the same problem it always leaks everywhere but if u tilt the quad on its side it will leak all the gas in the carb and then u can even do this if u want my friend has the cobra s4 and i was doing that like mine but if u want take the gas hose od like where the black hse goes to the carb and drain all the gas out of the gas tankk and put the hose back on and then start your quad and let all the gas that is sitting in ur carb drain out like ride the quad with out gas in it cause u still have gas in the carb so ride it till the gas in the carb runs out then fill the tank with gas like half way of the tank and it will run good with out leaking it usually leaks when u ride it alot but try that it will help!!!
