Lets see if you guys can fix this problem

I just purchased a mini quad, the one with the single shock in front and rear. I installed a K&N type air filter, NGK spark plug and a rocket key. What happens is my 3 year old rides it for approx 100 feet then it dies. It will start right away and run for a few feet then die again. It seems its running out of fuel form the crab bowl. I pulled the fuel line off at the carb and it pours out. I also removed the carb today and cleaned it along with the jet.. I tried setting the needle at 2 , 4 and 5 setting and it still dies out.

*** please help.

Yes it is, I also forgot to tell you is when the fuel knob is open it will start to come out of the overflow hose, which indicates the needle not seating properly in the jet to shut off the fuel. It can also be a problem with the fuel bowl float not pushing on the pins to push on the needle . Which tells me its overflowing.

I have the same quad. It overflows when the motor is off and petcock on as well. Never found a fix for it. When I get off it I just shut the fuel off and at the end of the day I shut it off and let the carb run out of gas before packing it up.

Re: Lets see if you guys can fix this problem

your guys float forks are bent! bend them back down to where it stops leaking.

jaffo sounds like you're running too lean to the point where its running out of gas adding a k&N is letting in more air compensate by using a larger main jet (.68) since these come with a tiny jet to begin with (.64)

you can also fill your petcock switch in with jb weld take it off first of coarse then drill through it so theres no restriction the stock petcock is very restrictive then use an inline fuel shut off valve.
