Mini ATV dies at full throttle - HELP

Hi guys - I finally go the pocket Quad running and it will run idol for 30+ minutes no problem. I can also lift the rear tire up and let it rip full throttle with no problems (except a bit of white smoke from exaust). But if me or my son gets on it and ride it, it will die once the throttle is wide open for a few seconds.. Why does it only die when it has weight on it? Not enough gas (bad stock fuel filter)?? Thanks for the help!!

Re: Mini ATV dies at full throttle - HELP

It sounds like a fuel issue to me. Make sure your carb is clean and then unsrew the drain plug on the bottom of the carb and put a little bit of gas in the tank to see how it flows out of the carb. You should get a nice steady stream, if it just kinda drips out then something is clogging it. You should probably ditch that stock fuel filter and get a good one, I also replaced my stock fuel line with clear line so I can tell if my gas is making it to my carb. If your carb is clean and your filter is good and still not getting enough gas then it's probably your petcock, which is the thing with the little white knob. If you have messed with it then it's probably messed up. Theres a mod that you can do to it to fix it. You just simply take it apart fill it in with jb weld then drill it through. Theres a thread called the petcock mod in the air cooled section with some pictures if you need them.

Re: Mini ATV dies at full throttle - HELP

hey man yeah id have to say deff a fuel problem "clogged line" "too much oil" or a carb problem,i just got a 2001 2 stroke 90cc quad and it ran like $#!t always died out when i gave full throttle and constantly bogging and or dieing out/stalling,so im like the carb, took off the carb sprayed it down with carb/choke cleaner and blew it out with an air compresser hose make shure to complety dissassamble the carb and bowl/float if it has one. re assemble and re mount correctly and see if that helps,it did for me and theres no grater feeling then 100% throttle with no bogging good luck hope i could help.

This is brand new, but I did put a small bit of straight oil to try to lube up the cylinders. That clogged up the carb so I took to off and cleaned the oil out and put it back on. It starts now and runs fine (even revs at full throttle when I lift up the back tires) when nobody is on it. But when my son (60lbs) is on it it will bog and die at full throtle. I ordered a new fuel filter. My guess is that when I put straight oil in it I probably clogged up the fuel filter with oil. When the new filter comes I will let you know.. Thanks for the reply and I will keep you posted.
