Mudd Boggin'!!!

I just went this weekend after it rained really hard mudding my quattro a4 (pocket quad). It wasnt exactly mudd boggin but it was some pretty thick/deep wet stuff!
It was very fun and im sure it was terrible for my quad. Well anyways their was alot of water/puddles that i went through. Whenever i went through going very fast in a deep puddle the quad shut off. I was wondering if their is a certain part of the engine or something that cant be touched by water? And is there away to make it water resistant?

P.S. the quad started up after about 2 minutes of wating when it cut off, and i do recomend it if you have mud tires, suspension, ect. and dont are not worried about breaking your quad. And i never got stuck

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

The water was going into your airfilter most likely and you should buy one of the airfilters that are water proof.

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

Yeah you can make a snorkel for it. Just use the airfilter you have now and make a custom snorkel. That would look pretty bad ***.

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

If you are going to make a snorkel you won't need a waterproof airfilter. You could make it out or pvc or metal...

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

Thanks, im not a welder or anything so I think ill just do: pvc pipe, gorrilla glue ( or some other super strong water proof glue), and water proof duct tape. And at the end of the snorkel what do i put?? Like an air filter?

Any Suggestions?

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

Yeah you could put an airfilter at the end or you could build the snorkel from the airfilter on the carb.

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

yeah im gonna try not to just drive through pure water. Its because when i go go mudding their usually is water on the side and when i go through it going fast the fun is over. Ill try not to drive through water to much plast where the snorkel starts.

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

You also have to protect the wiring. If the kill switch gets water in it, its like shutting off the motor manually through the switch. If you are going to put a snorkel on it, try finding a prebent water hose from a car. The hoses are almost identicle in size with the air filter adapter, and if you seal it right, it should work great!!! Take the adapter into a local car parts store, or radiator shop, and match it up with a hose that they have in stock. Message me if it works well!!!

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

At the end of the wires, where it's solderet, you have to cover it in electrical tape. That should work

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

I have the same problem..no take off power. And I'm 160 lbs. I'm swapping out the rear sprocket 54t for a 72t or 78t. I know I'll lose a lot of top end, but I don't need to be blastin' down trails at 40mph.

Re: Mudd Boggin'!!!

I'm guessing your quads have the heavier 8mm chain and sprockets, if thats the case you need to swapout your sprockets and chain to the 25, I do that to all the new quads that I get because the 8mm is all wrong for these things, thats why you have no power, burning clutches, good top end, thats if you can get it to top out. I usually start out with stock gearing which is 6/68, but it depends on what size tire you have, I'm assuming if your mudbogging you have the bigger nobbie tire, if thats the case go with the 6/74, but what ever you do get rid of that 8mm setup, pinion, chain, and rear sprocket.
