Quad 44mm Head kit Installation info!!

Hi, just wondering if anyone could help me out with some instructions. I have a cobra S-4 and decided to mod it and see what it could do...ill keep you updated! I just bought and recieved a pbu exhaust, fg reed, dellorto performance carb kit, jet kit, ngk spark plug, and a 44mm head kit. I just opened the box and dave's didnt send any instructions, torgue spec's or anything! So I am kind of lost with this project. Can anyone give me any insight on how to install the 44mm head kit???? Torgue spec's, break in recomendations? Thanks a ton in advance! - D

Here is the head kit: http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product787.html

Re: Quad 44mm Head kit Installation info!!

hello again bikenitup. i have that heakit for my bike. for installation put the rings on the piston, put the piston in the cylinder (make sure the arrow points toward exhaust). then connect piston to shaft. the copper rings go in between the head and the cylinder. i put one in so i would have better compression, but you can put both if you like. hopes this helped. oh ya, look at your old piston to see how to connect it to the shaft and what not.

it will increase low end. if you want you can change up your gearing. the only other thing ive got right now is an air filter and some other stuff, but not for performance (more for reliability), but i am hopefully about to get a ported carb. and just wondering, what color did you get?

Re: Quad 44mm Head kit Installation info!!

I got the silver head. I wanted to go with red but I kinda didnt realize I had a color option until after I ordered it! What did you do to break in the head? What oil/fuel mixture did you run? Below are the link's to all of the stuff that I bought. If you decide to go with the dellorto carb, buy it at daves! It's $35 there and like $86 + everywhere else! So its defineatley the best deal for your money. What other parts have you gotten for reliablility? I might need to get some of that stuff! If you want, after I get this thing all together I can send you some pic's so you can check it out! Thanks again for the info!

Re: Quad 44mm Head kit Installation info!!

Hey, I just spent about 6 hours today installing all the parts! The outcome, I got the carb, reed, and head all together. Then I had to put the engine back on the bike. I got it all togther and the frame must be tweaked cause the carborator is wedged up against the frame on the right side! The exhause doesnt fit right either! Quick question...when you installed your head....did the long bolts (that attach the head to the block) slide right in? When i did mine, they were pushed up against the cooling fins that stick out! Also...how has yours been riding? Did you get the steering worked out?

Does your friends quad still ride perfect? What kind of cag do you have? I am pretty dissapointed in quad to, I wonder if its just the Cobra model. When I called MiniPocketRockets they said they havent had any complaints about them. Maybe we both just have lemons!!!!!

yep, my friend's is still goin great. well mpr is lying because i called too. i got a 47cc ff cag. if you dont like the quad you could get a cag and transfer the parts...is that pipe just for quads? also another problem i noticed with the quad is whenever i ride it only 3 wheels are on the ground (normally). i just dont know what to say bout this thing...

Re: Quad 44mm Head kit Installation info!!

I called MPR again today...I have been busting their balls alot! They said I have to fill out this paper on their website and mail it in and they would send me a new frame! We will if this really happens!!!! PBU makes the pipe pretty much for everything! You should get one, but they are kind of expensive! Mine has the same issue to....it seems like it kind of leans to the right and when i drive or turn it wants to bring the left front wheel off the ground. Man.....I dont know how they are still selling these things!!! How does the cag ride? Is it faster than the quad? Which one do you have.....this may sound stupid but there is alot of different ones out there!

i have a "gp mx3" from mpr. the cag does require a lot of attention, but it is so much fun i really dont care. i just had to replace the back wheel which is a pain in the a$$$$. but yea i rides pretty well. it goes about 31 (on a good day), but once i change the front sprocket i am expected a better top speed. how is that carb?

Re: Quad 44mm Head kit Installation info!!

I don't think you frame is tweaked or anything... When i mounted a bigger carb and airfilter, i but my engine on stilts :-D i put a lot of spacers under each bolt in the engine, so the airfilter would clear the frame :-) Btw, i haven't got any handling problems whit mine? mine is great :-D

Edit: I have got one problem! I can't get the cylinder off? it won't move at all! I removede the 4 bolts, but it is REALLY REALLY stock on there! What should i do to get it off?
