pull the clutch housing off - it is where the chain connects to the engine...
the clutch is inside there and should have 3 shoes and 3 springs all together - but my guess is you might have 2.5 springs
the rest are pretty self explanitory...as soon as i took the cover off the spring and 'metal piece' fell out (where they are in the picture) and i noticed all kinds of dust on the cover and inside the casing...
dawm... Since where talking about mini quads
how the hell does one keep the chain on the dawm thing !
I've tried 3 fresh chains many adjustments with no luck
sometimes 5minutes 10 minutes or 1 minute then pops off
chain rollers or a stiffer shock ?
don't worry about the clutch bud there cheap and it's and easy fix
but dawm that clutch must of been really sliping or something
got some mad abuse on there. must of burnt and just cooked till
it turned to dust.
thanks!!! a couple more questions...since i'm new to the gig...
sounds like this should not have happened to a brand new out of the crate bike? i wonder if this is under warranty?
besides that...where can i order the parts i need and get them delivered asap...son's bday party is this weekend and he wants to show his cousins and friends...may be a dream...but i got to try
DDM in the sponsor box is just about the best place IMO for parts - just look under the 47cc bike parts (cag) they will fit. And I always keep a spare drum and springs handy, along with a few spark plugs
ok time for a silly question...what does 'cag' mean?
i was too impatient and ordered from somewhere else...paid more too...but i have a feeling i will be ordering more parts soon enough...thanks for the tip!!
funny thing is...
we had our son's birthday party yesterday...when i showed the bike to my brothers and neighbors i think i start a movement!! i think between us we are ordering 4 quads sometime next week...
we're gonna blow this site up with questions!!!
hope you're ready...
there are two that I have used when my kids were younger...
1. take a washer and grind it down to fit inside the exhaust pipe at the head so it restricts the exhaust to about half of the normal size
2. put a small piece of fuel hose in the slide for the carb so it won't allow full throttle opening
I prefer #2 since when they get used to the speed, you can trim a little bit and give a little more throttle
If you want, I can post pics of the setup - I'm sure I have them somewhere
cutlasskel, were you ever able to find the pics of #2 setup above? just wondering...figure work on regulating while i'm waiting of the new clutch...that way too my son won't be on my back to ride...
