Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

sorry for the confusion... by threads I meant the amount of threads sticking through the clutch bell in the pic you posted of the bell. and my answer would be the same. Also, ask as many questions as you want - somebody here can probably answer most if not all of them...

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

cutlasskel...thanks again for the DDM referal...i ordered from them on Thurs. and i received the clutch & bell on Saturday!! great turn around...

ok...so i'm posting before, after, during, etc. pics of the clutch reinstalll...

now there's another issue...i let the quad idle for a good 15 minutes...my son got home put on his gear and jumped on to go for a quick ride...when he turned the throttle the engine rev-ed and died...this happened a few times before i got tired of pulling the started... i'm getting old...

anyway...i did a search for 'clutch adjusting' on this site but couldn't find anything for 3 shoe clutch only the performance adjustable clutches...or am i even thinking the right thing? could it be something else wrong?

thanks again for all the help!!

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

good deal on the parts, huh? those guys are the best (even get free gum, ha ha)
I don't think it is a clutch problem. It seems to me to be a carb problem. (you will get pretty good at this, especially if you have more than 1 bike)

let's diagnose:
1. was the choke on or off?
2. are we talking an Idle to Full throttle blast? or a steady throttle input?
3. have you put either of the governors on? which one?

post up the info and we will go from there...

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

son liked the gum!!! put the sticker on his rear fender (1st one!!)...

answers:
1. tried with choke on (full down)...then with it off (full up - did stay on in this position long)...then with it on (half down)...and so on...no difference, weird thing is it would idle when on (full down) but when i would turn the throttle, tires would spin for a second and then nothing...shut down

2. it was steady throttle input not a blast (still breaking the engine in...)

3. no governors yet...want to see how he does...so far he has a good concept of 'easy on the throttle'...i'm sure that will only last as long as i'm watchin him...

thanks!!

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

hey i have the s4 cobra and so far have replaced the air filter with a ufo style one i also have replaced the clutch springs with performance ones i got the ngk spark plug a better fuel filter and today put on my new chain tensioner by kore. first id like to say that if you have problems with the chain being to loose and poping off on you (i know i did and it drove me nuts) that the kore chain tensioner is a great buy i went nuts on it today and no slips. hill climbing, trail riding its doing it all great. i also ordered a two shoe racing clutch i think its the banshee. only problem is i dont know how to get the clutch off to replace it so i was wondering if maybe someone could post some pics of how to do that. my springs broke today from the heavy riding and i need to get this fixed soon!! all i need now is the 78 tooth rear sprocket and the big bore kit and i will feel done with it..
