Exclamation Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

I bought a "velocita" pocket quad off Gtech4 on ebay and there arent enough bad things I can say about this guy. The quad came packed in 2 taped together ups boxes (one on top of the other) and was just filled with styrofoam popcorn so obviously it came broken. The Brake Lever is cracked in half and hanging on the handle bar. Also I didnt recieve the toolkit, fuel mixer, manual or stickers (I dont care about the stickers). Anyway I emailed the guy and I didnt get a response and he no longer seems to carry the pocket quads so I'm thinking I got the last one.

So my question is does anyone know where I can buy a replacement Brake Lever and Fuel Mixer for the pocket quad. Also does the manual have any important info on taking care of and first using these quads. Oh and does the toolkit come with any special tools or are they just generic tools that I probably already have. Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

the toolkit basically comes with a phillips/flat screwdriver, 2 metric wrenches with 13 and 16, and 14 and 17. It also comes with a cheesy sparkplug wrench that is terrible. The mixer i would go and buy a ratio rite from a lawn mower store or sumthing like that around you, because the mixer you get isnt that clear on instructions.

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

my manual says to properly break in the motor, the first (5) tanks of fuel should be mixed at a ratio of 30:1 with SYNTHETIC oil... after that 5 tanks is through, you can then change the mix to 50:1...during break in do not go above half throttle and do not let it over heat-5 tanks sounds like a lot, but it will go faster then you think...

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

i have the upgraded levers on my site under pocketbikes-47cc cag-bodywork and pegs etc. they are 28 shipped for the aluminum race style..brea it in at 32:1. I sell individual amsoil packets that premix with one gallone of gas so you dont need a mixer any more.

Thumbs up Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

I recieved the brake levers. I hooked the left one right up and readjusted the tension at the back brake area it is working like new! They definitely seem like quality brake levers, though that 2 stroke mix got damaged during the shipping and got all over everything. Im not too worried about that though as it was only a dollar. Im going to go pick up some oil tomorrow. Anyone recommend any specific brands?

Coming in late...I just picked up a velocita 50cc...
i thought the recommendation was a mix ratio of 25:1?

(also, being that i got this for my son...is there a regulator i can put on this thing?)

Thanks!!

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

there are two that I have used when my kids were younger...

1. take a washer and grind it down to fit inside the exhaust pipe at the head so it restricts the exhaust to about half of the normal size

2. put a small piece of fuel hose in the slide for the carb so it won't allow full throttle opening

I prefer #2 since when they get used to the speed, you can trim a little bit and give a little more throttle
If you want, I can post pics of the setup - I'm sure I have them somewhere

I just picked it up last night and am going to put it together tonight...tomorrow is his bday...i'm sure he's going to want to jump on it ASAP...

also...
50:1 ratio isn't that running on the lean side?

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

I run 50:1 in all of our bikes ( we have like 9 now I think). We use a good castor based oil and haven't had a failure to date. If you are not comfortable with 50, go with a 36:1 ratio and you will for sure be safe.
I will get to work in the garage and see if I can find the restricters - pics to follow later.

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

cutlasskel...
you were absolutely correct about the ratio...when i finally got to uncrating the mini last night i read the manual...it says to start with 36:1 ratio then after 5 full tank runs go to 50:1...the thing that threw me off was on the velocita web site it says 25:1...

thanks again,
were you able to find the pictures of the restricters?

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

it appears I don't have them handy, but I will knock the exhaust one up now for ya and tear apart one of our carbs for the other. the first pic is a stock exhaust and the second is the restricted - I am sure you can tell from the pics. NOTE: the bike will be an absolute slug like this for any adults who attempt to ride it.....wink wink

you can also drill out the hole in the washer for more flow as the kids progress in riding skill...

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

ok...got bigger problem...
ran the bike last night for about 20 mins...
got home today...ran the bike for 15 mins...son (he's 5 today) came home...we (yes we...) jumped on and tooled around for roughly 10 mins...
bike died...won't crank...weird odor...not normal 2 stroke exhaust...can't pull start...rear wheel won't turn...
now i know it's been a few years since i've ridin a 2 stroke, but doesn't that all mean that the engine siezed? is that possible?? are these engines that fragile??? i did run with the 36:1 ratio...did i not run it long enough?

Re: Question for Pocket Quad Owners.

I would check to make sure you don't have a broken clutch spring first. And these little motors are pretty **** sturdy as far as abuse goes, we put ours through hell.
