4800 and 26000 RPM 18 volt motor

New project:
We have 2 schwinn sting rays 1 Large and 1 small.
I am a cabinet maker and have every tool known to man.
One of my dewalt cordless skill saws frame broke,
so i decided to examine the perfectly working motor.
After taking everything apart I noticed the simplicity
in everything
1 18 volt 4800 rpm motor
1 18 volt battery and
1 push button swith that goes full blast.
Nothing else except for plastic housing.
I have used this saw everyday and it will cut
thru anything plywood 2x 4's etc. and if it binds
no problem it will handel it.
So I hooked it up to a 24 volt controller and a twist grip throttle
and a pair of 24 12amp volt batterys and this motor is so freakin fast.
Super fast. Plus it has a d shaft that works with #25 sprockets and or chain!

So then i started looking at some of my other dewalt tools.
And discovered that my cordless cutting router tool is also
18 volt and has the same looking motor (exactly but with
less motor woundings but has a no load rpm rating at
26000 rpm Yes 26000 rpm. THis little machine has never let me down
and i have abused it over and over. and it has taken it .

Are these little motors capable of pulling a lightweight bike
plus a pair of batterys and a 100 pound rider at the incredible
rpms rated?

Re: 4800 and 26000 RPM 18 volt motor

I doubt it will work, those motors are really only rated for 20 amps of current. At 18 volts that's 360 watts of peak power, and at that rate the motor will overheat in about 5 to 10 minutes. I guess it could work if you were to limit the current to the motor but the power might not be so great.

Re: 4800 and 26000 RPM 18 volt motor

Thanks for reply,
I am only going to run 2 12 volt 12 amp batterys.
so the amps wont exceed 12 amps. i will be slightly
overvolting it by 25%. These motors spin so fast.
and seem to have a lot of pull. The total bike weight
should not be more than 35 to 40 pounds. THis motor can
cut thru 2x4s plywood etc. What do you think?
Cruh
btw HOW IS THE BATTERY pack mod going.
Look forward to hearing updates.
