The C1 electric conversion story

That's how I'll do it. I'll post pics along the conversion of my C1 in electric.

Just have to wait until the parts come ! To start with, this is how my bike looks like, engineless and so ready to receive her new heart. Hope you'll enjoy.

PS: Sorry for my language so far not perfect, I'll try not to make too much mistakes. lol

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

Waiting for the parts to come, I'm actually thinking of giving my babybike a new paintjob. These are the 3 examples I hesitate between.

Give me your impressions.

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

i like the silver too. hey frenchie don't know if you figured out a place for the batteries but this is how i solved that problem...i got a steel plate welded it to where your gas motor went then i got a steel bar(allthread)bolted it to the top of the frame and then to the steelplate...know you have room to mount the motor and room for your batteries... the best part is that weight stays low to the ground so it won't effect your riding when you are on the track.. when you have those quick turn( shifting your body from one side to the other side)...here's a pic to show you what i mean just a helpful hint if you haven't figured it out.... now you have more options

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

This is exactly how I wanted to do it, except I thought I could put the 3 batteries the one on the other then put the controller next to the batteries as shown on the pic.

Silver : 2 points wow I was thinking you would prefer the red one...

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

your controller should be able to mound right under you seat... you want something to protect it just incase you crash it...

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

Yes Mondo I thought I could put the controller under the seat too, but I'm not sure it will fit... Please give me the dimensions of the controller and I could look the place I get to fit it.

These are other pics of the frame where I can weld the support

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

6.5x6x2.6 inches remember you want to keep the weight low to the ground... keep it high and your bike will be top heavy not good for when you need to lean quickly...man just took my boy's bike for a run.. it seems like every time i run it it gets faster and faster.. i did 24.2 yesterday and today i did 24.5 which is good for my boy cause when he gets on the bike he is always 4mph faster then me on it... so if he runs it he would hit 28.5 he's getting close to being to first in out group to break 30 on two elictric pocket bikes...

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

Dem... if it fit under the seat I would say it was fitted for it 6" wide may fit but... Have to try before to be sure of it. It would be great cause I could put the 3 batteries lower and have the place for a 4th... it could help lol 48V

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

hey guys what do you think of this... this is the frame i want made for my project bike... sort of a dragster style bike... but size of a mid size pocket bike ..i made up the frame last night.. this is the way i vision it in my head...but the only problem is it would be exspensive to have someone custom make it... not really wanting to spend 800 just for a frame..
hey frenchie... when it gets here i'll measure it... i think it will fit cause i think the lip when the bolts go acounts for 1 inche so if that's the case then it will fit in there perfect but we'll see...

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

Well, this is where I am. I made the frame mod with aluminium, and I have to say I'm rather happy of it, but now there are two new problems :

- First : The bottom fairing don't fit anymore, so I have to "wider" it (I don't know if I can call it like this) a little bit (about 1" 1/4).

- and the most important : there is not enough space to fit the 3rd battery AND the motor. Hopefully the controller should fit under the seat, letting me put this 3rd battery another place. (I'm thinking of putting it between the controller and the motor, but this will force me to make another frame mod to fix it.

Here comes the pics :

(As you can see I haven't yet made the part which will connect the battery support to the footpeg support)

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

batteries along the bottom plate may help with space... for the fairing you may need to get flexible peice of plastic and attach the fairing on the bottom with that...maybe short up on the length of you front braces and have the batteries sit alittle higher then the motor then your fairing should close right....

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

Unfortunately, supports I made for the batteries are scaled ! (this is a VERY little pocketbike ) So on the picture, you can imagine the place for 2 batteries of 12V 12ah the one on the other (often the same size which is 6" x 4" x 4"... and I can ensure you there is not enough space for 2 batteries side to side.... as I thought first and as we drew it on the pic mod.

Good idea the flexible plastic for the fairing I will see if I could find something like this to help this problem.

Re: The C1 electric conversion story

nice project ,hey why dont try to put the batterys under the seat, were the exhaust use to be i bet you can make a nice bracket under there that way you dont have to hack the fairing
