Re: The Electric X9

i could have ordered a throttle for you and you would have save money only cost me 10 bucks and that includes shipping... anyway yes the stock controllers are pretty much junk... smell your controller if it blew it will smell like burnt smoke....
i know you don't have the extra funds right now for new upgrades but tnc has a 48volt controller puts out 50 amps...$35 battery 12v 20ah $20 and charger 48 volts $40... which comes to a total of 95 buck....cheapest way out but it will make a big difference in you performance and top speed... something to think about....

Re: The Electric X9

That's not a bad idea... If it's the controller, I'll have them send one anyway, but those are the best prices I've heard for those parts! When I find my digital camera, I'll take a pic of the frame so you can see for yourself if there's room for another battery. BTW the stock batteries in this are 3 12V 17AH. Is that a problem to mix 20AH and 17AH? Forgive me but it's been a long time since I played with stuff like this lol!

yes there will be plenty of space on you bike for another battery....i know it's tough with kids i have 3 and one is 20 so i know money gets tight at times....and no it won't hurt your other batteries...

Re: The Electric X9

yep, kids are wallet-drainers! Good to hear the battery would work and fit. I'm hoping to have a little extra $ to play with next month. As long as there's no surprises, I should be able to start upgrading then... but I gotta get 'er runnin first!

you can use a 20 with a 17, but when you charge them witha 48v charger it will get confused when it peaks the 17 cells first ten it will then asume the 20ah cell is a 17.....under charging gell cells is bad, so expect to replace the 20 some day down the road in a couple months

Re: The Electric X9

Ok guys... I need some more help! A new throttle showed up today. The original has three wires, BLACK, RED, and GREEN, which plug into 3 wires on the controller, BLACK, RED, and BLUE. For some reason, even though I ordered a new throttle with the EXACT same color wires as the original, the one they sent me has BLACK, RED, and BLUE! Assuming substituting a blue wire for a green one should be ok, I plugged it in, and the bike still doesn't move. Is it a problem to have a blue wire on the new throttle instead of a green one? And if that is ok, should I be looking at a replacement controller? Is the controller the only other thing it could be? THANKS!

Re: The Electric X9

ok, I called the store and they said the the blue/green wires are interchangeable... The next troubleshooting he said to try was hook the motor wires directly to the battery to rule out a blown motor. Am I correct in assuming that if it's not the motor, the ONLY other problem could be the controller? PS... I already checked the fuse and brake wires...

Re: The Electric X9

nice pics of you bike.... well my friend there is only two things left... as you mention the motor and the controller....i say it's the controller... but check the motor anyway.... hook up a 12 volt battery to the motor not 36, cause it will arche @36and if you don't have the wheels off the ground... bike will go bye bye with out you...oh get yourself a resettable fuse so you don't have to worry about replace those fuses on you bike now... so when it does blow all you have to do is press the button back down.. it's like 5 bucks well worth it

Re: The Electric X9

Thanks for the comment on the pics! I just practiced hooking up the motor to the battery using my Razor... that was funny... I forgot to put it on the little stand and it drove itself into my couch LOL! I'm gonna give that a try when the kid takes a nap... I really hope your right thinking it's the controller. Just out of curiousity, would the chain being too tight or not properly lined up, have caused the motor to work too hard and blow the controller... or the motor itself for that matter?

I noticed the Razor has a button on the side next to the power switch... is this a resettable fuse? I remember briefly reading in it's manual, something about pressing that button to reset something, but I don't quite remember (and I don't have the manual anymore).

Re: The Electric X9

told you that would happen .... yes the black button by your switch is the fuse and yes you puch it in when it blows no replacing fuses....i don't think that the chain too tight will cause the controller to blow... it anything your motor will over heat and die.... i think your controller had issues before you got it....

yes if you have over tightened the chain it will put so much of a load on the motor that it would put out a hell of a lot of amps, next time you tighten your chain, turn off the bike and set it on the gound then grab the top or bottom chain and try to move the bike if the bike take more then about 10lbs to make the motor and the wheel move then it is too tight, i do belive that is what the avge load test they use for these kinda motors any ways....you should never over tighten your chain couse it will bend your motor shaft or put a lot of strain on every thing else in your bike

yes the black button it a breaker rated for i do belive 35amps, i popped it once, it save me some money, but the controler bit the big one

i dont have mine on my bike any more, couse my motor draws that on take off.....

Re: The Electric X9

Hey, finally some luck here! I don't even have to send the busted controller back! They're shipping a new one in a few days... good thing too considering not one parts store seems to carry the identicle controller...

Re: The Electric X9

yeah, they were very cool about it. I explained that I checked everything and was confident it was the controller. No questions asked, they put the order in immediately... just not too sure how long it's gonna take to show up LOL.
