I called TNC... They said that adding a second fuse couldn't hurt, but that the headlights and other "extras" are overloading the controller, so it seems that removing those "extras" should do the trick...
Thought about that not sure if it would be worth the hassle of haveing to remove the batteries each time. The pharring and side pieces are b@#!! to remove and the screws eventually dont tighten back up. Also does anyone have some type of recharger kinda like the old generator on the wheel like we used to have when i was growing up. Or some kind of way to extend the charge life while rideing thanks Aproldan might reconsider but still would like info on the quick charger
Alright, the controller is coming today, but let me double check one more time... I had to place a fuse in the battery line to protect the controller. Am I correct in placing a 40 amp fuse in the line, given the specs of the controller and bike...
Controller
Rated Voltage 36 Volts Rated Current 40 Amps
Rated Motor ≤ 1000 Watts
2nd question... based on the wiring diagrams http://www.tncscooters.com/CT-660B9.php , where would I plug in the Throttle (3 wires), and the Key Ignition or on switch (4 wires).
3rd question... Is it imperative to plug in everything (guages, lights, brakes) for the bike to operate?
brendan, for know all you need to worry about are the battery connection, the throttle connection and the motor connections... oh, on/off connection... if you want to hook the rest up then you can but it won't effect the bike or keep it from not running...40amp fuse is fine.all you need to do is place the fuse between the battery and controller(just like the last time).. your bike will never see 40amps unless your motor goes bad(unlikely that will happen since your not going up very steep hills)..... if i recall correctly the yellow and white wire is your on/off switch..the throttle is on that 6wire connector.. you use the red green and black wire and you connect the color to color...if i confussed your let me know and i'll try to clarify this...
Thanks for the help man ... She's up and running, unfortunately up here in the Northeast, we're gettin rained out . When the weather clears up I'll get a vid up. Thanks again
I have posted a thread requesting some help deciding if I should buy an xp700 for my son and I received a little feedback from aproldan which was very appreciated. I was looking for more feedback and found this post. I am just starting to do some research on these bikes. Is there anything you can tell me about the x9 like where can I buy one or even maybe two? I just want to get the best quality electric pocket bike out there. Thanks.
Well, as a few know, I have purchased the Electric X9, and after a hard wait, I now have it sitting downstairs! I have yet to actually get it outside and give her a test run, becuase of rain. Info I can share with you without having driven it yet, are some features that I was surprised to see on it ,since the advertising doesn't talk about them.
It has working headlights AND turn signals (built into the cat eyes).
It has a horn.
The charger is fan cooled, and turns itself off once charging is complete.
When you turn the key for power and kick the lights on, there is a guage between the speedometer and voltmeter, which illuminates to tell you that the power is on, lights are on, and when the turn signals are activated (much like what you would see in a car).
This bike is an absolute MONSTER! It's obviously got a lot of weight, but the actual size of it really astounded me. The thing is friggin huge! I'm about 5'7", 140lbs. and contrary to some pocket bikes, I don't look incredibly out of proportion to it. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have some pics of it posted here. Unfortunately, until the rain stops, my hands are kinda tied.
There will be a TON of mods done to this baby, once I replenish the $400+ I spent on it. It will have a new motor and controller, a mounted tail light, a double neon/led pack, and (if I can get another set) a second set of farrings with a custom new paint job. I will post more info once I can get the bike out and really ride.
I'm new to this but could you tell me where to buy an electric x9. Thanks
