Re: Amra

I meant to inquire about the July 1-3rd weekend...that is what we intended on coming up for. We have to find out how long it would be to drive. So far I have 3 riders including myself who may come up. And yes, I know Ben and Kris. I used to race a BMS bikes and sold quite a few in the USA, but do not anymore.

Re: Amra

That would be great if you guys can make it! If you need any information let me know and i will try and get the answers for you. The track is in Calgary on the SE corner of the city. It is not confirmed as of yet but I think they are going to allow us to camp at the track. What bikes are you guys running? Most of the guys up here run open class bikes.

Re: Amra

I am going to see how many riders I can get to come up. I looked up the overhead photos of the track...it looks like topend gearing. Any hints on what you guys like for gearing might be interesting. We will need to get driving directions and figure out either camping and/or hotel accomodations. Of course we need to know if it is confirmed, becuase we do not want to secure accomodations and have to back out of them due to a cancelled event.

Regarding our bikes, I will likely bring my air cooled Giannini R1, and the other guys are probably going to bring their super production bikes as well (maybe water cooled). We will be the guests...and I don't have any reservations about running my air cooled 6.2 in with open class bikes.

We are racing in Pennsylvania that weekend or we would go, sounds like a great event and I have been thinking about our neighbors to the north. I will have to catch the next one or maybe something in Vancouver or Victoria if it comes up. Post up the events as the come up.

Re: Amra

The event is a 100% go for sure! I will post the schedule ASAP. I believe it will be a test and tune Saturday and Sunday night from 5pm till dark (about 10pm) and the race will be on the holiday Monday. We share the track time with the shifters and motards but you will get tons of riding time! We are just getting started so like I mentioned before we pretty much just run an open class but we can work all that out if we run into any problems. The track is very easy to find and I will also attach a map.
Great to see all the interest, you guys will love the track!

Re: Amra

I have done some calculations--the drive is 1199 kilometers one way, driving our truck with a trailer at 7 miles per gallon, it will cost about $750 Canadian in gas round trip. If we drive together maybe we can share the costs, but when I told one of my race team members it was a 14 hour drive minimum one way, he backed out. So I will have to get back to you.

Re: Amra

Thats too bad, see what you can do. Might be cheaper to ship your bikes and then fly or drive a Jetta!!

Re: Amra

Gearing for this track is for the top end but you can get away with a little lower gearing as the hair pin is really tight. I ride a GRC RR 8.5 and I run a 7-70 which seems to be alright for most of the track although it could use a bit more top in the straight. Hope this helps you out a bit. If you make it up you'll love the track it is pretty fun, watch out for goffers.
