Re: My Bike Build 08 Cagllari

I ran into two big problems with the parts I got, the first problem was that the aluminum pull starter would not bolt up because the Two cooling plate/fins the things that make it look sweet get in the way of it. So I used a Hack saw and cut it so it would bolt up. The second problem is that the exhaust pipe won't bolt up either because the Fins get in the way I'm not interested in bending or cutting the fins or pipe so any suggestions other than that would be great...

Re: My Bike Build 08 Cagllari

My stock pipe fits without the upper fins! So far my bike has
2 and a half tanks of 25:1.

I'm so happy only 1 and half more the I'm going to clock it and take it to the track!

Re: My Bike Build 08 Cagllari

Good question..I'm not positive but I will get back to you how ever setting the squish is also important, as well as the exhaust timing

Setting the exhaust timing is simple remove you're exhaust pipe from the motor and look into the exhaust port. You should see you're piston pull the pull starter slowly until the top of the piston is as far down as it will go it see be level with the bottom of you're exhaust port.

Setting the squish is also easy simply remove you're spark plug, and take a piece of 10mm Soldering wire(you can buy it at radio shack) and bend it into a small L and stick it inside you're spark pluck port. Now pull the pull starter slowly and the piston will smash the soft wire then remove the wire and measure how thick it is that is you're squish setting.

Just passing a tip on:
When you check the squish with a L shaped piece of solder you need to check at the sides of the piston above the wrist pin. Not in the front or the back of the piston. You will not get a good measurement like that. To get a true measurement of the squish it is best to cut a piece of solder as wide as the piston but a little short. Take a small piece of tape and tape the solder above the wrist pin on top of the piston. Put the head on and pull the pull start. Take head off and measure both sides of the solder. This will give the truest measurement of the squish.

Re: My Bike Build 08 Cagllari

Good idea that way you have two sides to measure being as 2 is better than one in this case!

ok with the exhaust timing and squish, but you say "setting" when all you are doing is checking. So far i have never seen anyone mention HOW to alter squish if it is larger/smaller than desired!

I have the cheaper chinese knock off razor headkit, measured squish = 2.4 mm (stupidly large) so have turned down the head a little, but not everyone has access to lathes... i was wondering if there was a simpler solution?
