Super pocket bike problem

So I bought this used super pocket bike from a guy. It's a 50cc 4 stroke bike. I rode it many times, very fast, everything works. Yesterday I was riding it, and I turnd it off with the kill switch, but then when I tryed starting it it wont start, like it wont even try to start. So I concluded that its a problem with the wiring since its an electric start. I called the guy who sold it to me, he said check the wires. I took off the top fairing and checked all the wires, and battery, and nothing was disconnected.

Here are some pictures of the bike:
In the last 3 pictures you can see this black box where 3 red wires are connected to. Right after the bike stopped working yesterday, I had to roll it all the way home, and when I took the top fairing off, I touched that black box a bit and moved it, and for a second the front lights turned on and off, I did it a couple of times and it turned on and off, but eventualy it stopped doing that. So I guess its obviously in the wires, I checked all the wires, and the wires connected to the battery, all fine nothing disconnected. Anyone knows the problem? Also anybody knows the model of the bike?

Re: Super pocket bike problem

Sounds like your starter solenoid, ( your last posted picture ) Slide it out of the rubber mount that holds it to the frame, tap on it with a wrench or something and try to start it again.

I had this same problem with a 110cc quad, tapping on the solenoid sometimes would make it work again.

Here is where you can get a new one,
Starter Solenoid

I also just noticed that my air filter fell off. Could that be the reason why it's not even trying to start?

Re: Super pocket bike problem

The missing airfilter would make it run so lean it would run good only with the choke flap closed....You can jump the top terminals of the solenoid together to see if the starter will still turn...You could also try looking at the starter pushbutton with a multimeter and doind a continuity test to it;-It could of went bad or a wire broke off the contact while you were riding prior to shutting down....................Peace

If the wiring is really bad and you want to redo it you can use the diagram below to get it done....

CAM what do you mean jump the top terminals together? Could you explain it a bit more.. I'm not sure what you are saying, also I tryed flipping the choke on but still nothing because it doesn't even make a sound. It must be the electricity. I went over the wires, and they all seem fine, also I checked the battery and it's also fine.

Re: Super pocket bike problem

Ok so I took a small thin and I connected it touched each of the terminals with it. The engine did its vvv sounds like its supposed to, but it would create sparks everytime it touched the terminals, and it would burn the wire.

Re: Super pocket bike problem

Ok, back to this, I was told it the starter solenoid, and when I jumped the 2 terminals together the bike started. So I went on an purchased a new solenoid from ebay, and got it today. I connected it exactly how the last one connected and everything seemed to fit in properly. I try the electric start and still nothing, niether the lights or horn. Any help? :S

Re: Super pocket bike problem

Pop the cap off the bottom of the ignition switch and make sure the wires are still soldered to the terminals...The other thing you can do is a continuity test on the starter pushbutton. If you still get nothing I would take the harness from the bike, unwrap it and break down and seperate the 3 systems..get them to work seperately and piggyback them all together.Another thing to check are the ground wire connections.....Peace

Re: Super pocket bike problem

That's the whole thing, I have no expirience with this kind of wiring, theres just too many wires. You can see in one of the pictuers that there is a switch instead of a key. The guy that sold it to me put it on because he said he lost the key. Would it still be possible to put an ignition switch? Could you expand the last few you said?
