New administrator checking in

Hi everyone, I'm glad to be here. I have accepted the position of administrator of this site and though I will mostly be working behind the scenes I thought I should introduce myself to the membership. All new members will be asked to make their first post here and older members should be encouraged to do likewise.

My name is Maico Shark (Rick) and I live in central Pennsylvania. I have a long history in minibikes and motorcycle mechanics and am eager to learn more about the exciting sport of pocketbikes. I sold my last mini this past spring, it was a vintage 50cc Morelli made in Italy. I had a chinese made 110cc mini chopper last year and am currently restoring a '72 Honda CB175 and looking for a buy on a pocketbike.

I want every member to feel free to contact me via PM with any concerns they may have or problems they may encounter here on our forums. I'll do the best I can to be of help.

Welcome Maico as you see I'm StrayDawg63 (Brady) and I've been around here along while. I live out in Denver. My rides are 3 polini W/C 911's. What type of pocketbike are you looking to get a chinese 1 or the real deal?

I'm hoping to learn enough here to make an informed decision but finances dictate I look on the used market. Glad to meet you straydawg.

*jaw drops* You shoulda kept that mini, dude ......

Welcome to the site, Maico. I'm SpyGuy (Bill), from Tucson, Arizona, and one of the more well-known hellraisers around here, so fair warning! I've been into pocketbikes for about a year now, and found my first HF Cag on craigslist (currently up to four). I also have a non-running Chinese-made 49cc mini-chopper. The pb's are just as addicting as the inibikes are, maybe more so, and I wouldn't be surprised if six months down the line you had a arage full of 'em.

Welcome to the addiction!

This has gotta be one of the friendliest, less uptight sites I've been on. Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Re: New administrator checking in

*laffs* Yeah, we're all a bunch of clowns on here, Maico. I've been on several pb sites where the members are "euro snobs" - if you ride anything but a euro bike, they laugh at you and put you down for not having a "real" bike. What most of them don't understand is that the Chinese replica bikes are cheap and easily affordable, therefore making it less expensive to get into the sport in the first place. I'd love to get my hands on a nice Polini or GRC, but I don't have, what $2K to drop on one of those bikes? I'm perfectly happy with my Cags (as long as my g/f doesn't find out how many I have ....)

You'll find a bunch of good guys on here (including me, no matter WHAT those guys tell you!) who are always very helpful to the newbies coming in and asking about their bikes, how to get them running, how to tune them up, and so on. I've got no problem welcoming a new kid on the block, and helping him with what knowledge I have on the pb's - most of the other guys will do the same. Of course, there's always a few ....
