Re: How do know when the engine is broken in

When the block is cracked, leaking oil and gas, and the piston is seized inside the cylinder. . o O (No, wait, that's when the engine is BROKEN .... sorry.)

Usually, it takes about three or four tanks of gas through the engine for it to properly break in, varying throttle sppeds, and not going wide open throttle (WOT) until after those tanks of gas are done.
More or less.... :
1st tank: idle to 1/4 throttle, no WOT
2nd tank: idle to 1/2 throttle, no WOT
3rd tank: idle to 3/4 throttle, short bursts of WOT, 3-4 seconds
4th tank: idle to 3/4 throttle, short bursts of WOT, 5-6 seconds
5th tank: wring that puppy out ......

As for the brakes, there's a couple of adjusters on the brake caliper. One is a knurled knob, which you use for major side-to-side adjustment. The other is the fine-tuner, which is a small Allen screw inside the end of the brake arm, where it attaches to the caliper. Loosen the nut slightly on the arm, use your Allen wrench on the screw that nut screws onto, then retighten the nut. This fine-tuner moves the brake pad in or out, depending on preference. Generally, you want to get the inside brake pad as close and as straight to the disc as possible without touching using the knurled knob, then adjust the outer pad the same way using the fine tuner.
