What NOT to do with your new bike-HELP!

Sooo, I bought my first bike the other night, a blue 2 stroke x7...I was super stoked, but as soon as i got home the rope pulled outta the pullstart on me- no big deal, i fixed it the next morning. So later that night we were gonna go riding, me and the roomies, and by the end of the night their hot friend was on the back clinging to me for dear life, except we were pretty buzzed, and soon the SoCo and Jager hit us full-bore...ended up goin down the muddy driveway twice foregetting i had no air filter or rear fender, and laid the bike down 3 times-dont really remember most of it, lol...Anyway, now the bike is not running. I have completely disassembled it, stripped out the wiring and unnecessary crap, rebuilt the carb, removed the electric starter/alternator assembly, and the motor turns freely with the plug out of it, but is hard to crank with the plug in-checked the spark, it looks good, and its obviously getting air and fuel-what am i forgetting? Basically, should I bother getting a new piston and ring set or is the whole top end fried? Any advice is much appreciated....

Re: What NOT to do with your new bike-HELP!

your first mistake was riding 2 people on it........the bike was ment to haul no more than 200 lbs.........try getting a shorter plug than what you have........it sounds like you burnt up the engine with the weight......you either need to rebuild or get another engine.........

Coulda happened man! Like i said its all a bit fuzzy, but I thought at the time it was doin extremely well with the added weight...IDK, I'm only abnout 140lbs and the girl cant be more than like 110, but yeah somethin mustve fried the top...Do I need a new cylinder or just a new piston and rings for a rebuild on one of these?

So you say it's easy to turn while the plug is out but hard when you replace the plug right? Unbolt the exhaust then try with the plug still in to see if it turns freely. When you are intoxicated everything always seems all good until the next day when you realized what you did the night prior

Re: What NOT to do with your new bike-HELP!

yeah man...I feel ya on that one- Well, I finally found the problem, it was an intake side seizure from water getting in the intake...Now my question is, can I use ADA's 4mm billet head kit on my x7 motor? It's on sale for $19 bucks, so it would save me $15 over buying the stock cylinder, piston, and rings from them...

It's always hard to crank with the plug in - that's something called compression, which apparently you have a lot of .... ADA is a good company, can't really go wrong with them.

And if all else fails, feel reassured that you got some 'cuz of all this ...... (You DID, didn't you ....?)

Yeah, I hear the ADA stuff is pretty legit, but more specifically, the site says it's intended for a 47cc and mine is a 49cc, so will that head kit bolt right on to my crankcase? And yes, of course I got some.

It should bolt right up ... not entirely sure, though, so ask around a little more first. Never hurts to have several opinions before making your decision.

Btw, like your sig. Reminds me of the CW song by Chris Cagle, "Chicks Dig It." All about the stuff guys do to impress the girls .... "Hey, y'all Watch this!"

Re: What NOT to do with your new bike-HELP!

Word, thanks bro- everyone else I've talked to thinks itll work too, so i ordered one...ill only be out 20 bucks if its a no go. In the meantime, and this will probably turn into a whole new thread, I've come across an interesting alternative powerplant that bolts right up to my transmission- a 33.9cc Subaru/Robinson 4-stroke! So i'll be playing with that until my old motor is rebuilt...we'll see how that goes, lol...well, thanks for all the help everybody, its been a great welcome to the site! I'll have pics and info on the subaru x7 up here in a few days...

Re: What NOT to do with your new bike-HELP!

already in the process bro- got it mounted up, just gotta put on fuel lines and hook up the coil switch. the fun part will be playin with the gearing...btw if anyone else wants to do this, you need to machine off a protrusion on the bottom of the flywheel cover and the motor can only be bolted to the frame on the tranny side...

Re: What NOT to do with your new bike-HELP!

Yup, im changin the clutch right now, but its doin pretty well so far- ive ridden it about 7 miles today and nothing came loose or broke...so far so good! I dont have a camera here but ill take someflicks at my moms place in a little bit and post them tonight. Right now I have to push off to get going, but hopefully the clutch will help with that, then I can start regearing it and experimenting a little more...Its a pretty fun project while i wait for my new head, thats for sure!

Re: What NOT to do with your new bike-HELP!

Ya dude, ill get it all together, are you wanting everything or just the chassis harness? I have the taillight and headlight harnesses and gauge cluster too...lemme know what you need and ill give you a quote including shipping after i find the cheapest way to ship-it'll be thru paypal of course, so no worries with that...oh unless you've got a good top end for a 49cc laying around, then we could just trade....I gotta get some torque back in this thing, it only clocks 30mph with the 4 stroke in it, lol...
