Project MicroBlade

Here's a picture of the B1 rep I brought about a month ago.

She had a number of problems wen i first got her, but aesthetically looks pretty good.
The ignition lead was a little loose at both ends which was causing it to miss and splutter at high revs. I replaced the lead with a fatter HT cable and the plug cap with one that clips onto the plug properly. Problem solved.
Next problem is it overheats after about 10 minutes. I suspect the ghey belt drive may have been slipping, and after removing the flywheel I found by spinning the water pump with my finger the bearings were pretty nasty.
So Saturday night I split the crankcase. The water pump seal had failed and the bearings were full of water.

I am about to place an order at Ozminimoto for a Blata water pump, belt, drive gear, seals, spacers, shims and a new flywheel. Bearings I can source locally. I will also get new crank seals and bearings to replace the old cag ones. The cag crank can go back in for now.

An online PDF part list for an original Blata B1 Origami can be found here.

I placed an order at Pannons nearly a week ago for a bunch of stuff.
PHBG 19 DS
Manifold
Stuffer
Carbon fiber reeds
Gaskets
Top end bearing
25H chain breaker
Blata racing clutch
Coolant bottle

This week we are ordering from xminimoto,
Big bore kit
Performance exhaust
CNC machined head with high compression dome

This month is going to be like Christmas.

I wasn't looking forward to undoing the flywheel or clutch nuts. While I was at the tool shop last week I noticed this we sucker on special.

So I decided I needed it. Haha the flywheel nut didn't stand a chance.
We made a flywheel puller from a chunky piece of steel with two holes drilled in it that line up with the two threaded holes in the flywheel.
I also picked up a tyre gauge and made up a connection for the nitrogen bottle so I can pump up tyres and use the rattle gun portably.
And every workshop needs a set of socket tee handles.

Re: Project MicroBlade

So for the last month not being able to ride the minimotos much at all we spent ages cleaning up the garage and making some decent work space. My mates Mal and Drew both have minimotos now too and we are keeping them all in my garage as neither of them have any useful work space of their own.
I quickly through together this panoramic from 3 seperate photos, so you can see were the two joins are. It's quite a high resolution and weighs in at 2megs.

Here's a picture of Mals ZPF

And my air cooled D1 rep

We took some video the other day just after Drew brought his B1 rep. His one looks pretty beat up but goes way better than mine. Oh yeah it was funny watching him fall off. The first time he falls over he broke his foot peg, so powerband wasn't very friendly with one leg hanging off the side. hahaha He fell off three times that day.

Video 1 : Andy wastes his cag
Video 2 : Drews first decent minimoto wheelie

Re: Project MicroBlade

Got a tray made up and a few bottles of kerosene so we can clean greasy parts.

Cleared off a spot on the bench which is now designated for grinding work.
We brought a new Dremel with a flexi attachment.

So with some good work space and tools I hoed into the crank case for the reed opening modification.
Here's a couple of images of it marked out ready for grinding.

Re: Project MicroBlade

Brought some 30mm black nylon bar and went mad on the lathe.
Also made a new chain guard from some decent thickness galvanized plate steel.

Nylon bar end.

10mm thread rod braces the bottom of the frame and the pegs are screwed onto the end.
