Dremel Quit?!?!

So the other day at the shop my dremel quit while cutting a dash, i figured i fried it, after reading the manual i found out that it had brushes (looks like compressed graphite) in the case. Took apart, filed and it worked perfect. Heres how.

1.On side there will be 2 round circles with slits in them for a flat head screwdriver.
2.Remove one at a time, carefully unscrew and remove spring.
3.Inside there is a little square piece with a round top, tap the hole on the counter to get the brush out.
4.File down so end is flat. (If shorter than 1/8", order a new one)
5.Put back will slide smoothly if not rotate it so slits in corners line up.
6.Put screw back in and screw down cap
7.Repeat on other side

Re: Dremel Quit?!?!

Nice work!

We were going over a similar task taking apart starters from cars today in class.

The brushes are always the first thing to check, We actually brought out this cool machine called a growler to test if the armature was shorted out.

Fun stuff.

Nick.
