Me again...


Anyways, I haven't fired up my bike in a couple of days, so 10 minutes ago I decided I'll give it a go. I did everything you guys said, choke on to start it, everything was proper. I gave it the few easy slow pulls, then the strong ones. I did it over 10 times, and nothing. I tryed everything, choke on choke off, turning the kill switch off and on, turning the key on and off. Turning the throttle a few times. And I still got nothing. It won't go on D:

Any suggestions?

Air cleaner--> carburetor--> intake manifold--> reed block--> reeds--> engine case.

The reeds act like a valve into your engine, allowing the fuel/air mixture to go into the cylinder for combustion.

Try any of our delaers in the supplier feedback section - they all have them.

And don't get snippy with your answers - we KNOW you're a newb, okay? You could have simply asked what the reeds are, what they do, and where do you get them. Not EVERY newb gets his hand held on these bikes ...

Any newb can get their hands on this piece of junk... Its not a mid bike. It's some cheap asian crap. I don't think it's a problem with that. I think it's just too cold to start. It's almost 0 degress outside. Also is there something I have to do with the bike for the winter? Is this what I need?

Exactly the same just silver. But all kinds of this bike ive seen all say 47cc, but when I bought mine i was told it was a 49cc. I guess I was lied to? And also whats the difference betwee nthe 47cc engine and 49cc? Is it really that big of a differrence?

The dealer probably didn't know the difference ........ There is a way to check on the side of the cylinder, but honestly, I forget how ....

Yup, those are the right reeds.

For winter, just make sure the gas is completely drained, and you should be okay. Next season when you go to ride, give the carburetor a cleaning, mix up some new gas, and go for a spin. Never leave gas sitting in the bike for long periods of storage, goes stale and gums everything up ....

How do I drain the gas out? Also, I can't ride it over the winter? $10 for that piece of metal... Isn't that kind expensive for a piece of metal? And could you name my bike now? That one I gave you a link to. It looks like a Giovanni but it has a different chain protector.

Sorry, I was assuming that you were storing it ....

You drain the gas by turning on the petcock (the white knob, turn it vertical), and pulling out the drain plug in the bottom of the carburetor - it's the one with the little rubber washer on it at the center of the bowl.

I suppose you could save ten bucks and cut a new reed out of the side of a beer can, but it has to be absolutely flat to work .... and no telling if it would work or not without trying it -a homemade reed could be too stiff, and not open, or too loose, and not seal ..... And btw, the reed on that link you posted isn't made of metal, it's carbon fiber.

Me, I'd order up a couple of performance parts to go on your full-fairing Cagllari/Daytona along with the reeds.

Are you sure its a Cag or a Daytona? Also, why is there a problem with the reeds? It's a brand new bike. I simply didn't ride it for a few days... It was just sitting there doing nothing. What could of happened to the reeds when the bike is sitting there doing nothing? And could you suggest stop performance parts that are really worth buying? Maybe some links?

Well, those were the reeds you pointed out in the link you gave me .....

"Cag" is simply a generic name for any Chinese-made pocktbike, the smallest ones. The Cag/Daytona are basically the same bikes, just different names. Giovanni is just one of the many manufactureres of the pocketbike.

Performance parts you can get at any of the dealers online, like Dave's Motors, ScooterParts4Less, PartsForScooters, etc.

I was also asking why should there be a problem with the reeds? It's not like I crashed into anything, or dropped it. It was simply sitting there. Why should anything happen to it while it's not even moving?

No, there shouldn't be a problem with the reeds, but no harm in taking them out and checcking to make sure they're sealing flat against the reed block. If you hold the block up to the light and see any slivers of light around the edges of your reeds, then you have an air leak and loss of power.

Easy. Just whip out your trusty Allen wrenches and go to it. You'll need a Phillips head for the air cleaner screws, then the rest are Allen heads.

Air cleaner--> carburetor--> intake manifold--> reed block--> reeds--> reed stop (actually inside engine case)--> engine case.

Btw, this is all easier to get to if you loosen/remove the rear wheel.

Thing is, if you always call someone to do it for you, you never get the chance to learn how to do it yourself. More than likely, you'll be putting out money for the bike to be fixed ... money that you can save for parts by doing it yourself. that's one of the things about the sport and these bikes ... after a while, you WILL know how to work on them, because you have to do so on a regular basis for routine maintenance.

I see what you are saying its just that I don't want to screw it up. I get most of my things done by usually watching a video on youtube. The problem is, there are no videos showing how to do any of this. It sounds complicated when you explain it, but if I watch it then I would be no problem.

Honestly, what I did was start taking things apart, and taking pictures of each thing on and off the bike, in the order I took them off. If I forgot how something went back on or together, I had my pictures to fall back on as a visual reference. The only real way to learn how to do something is to start doing it. Sure, you're going to make mistakes - everyone does - but you'll be learning at the same time. The pictures really help, and as an added bonus, you can put them into a photo album showing progress of your work on your bike.

Just I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. And I hate how there is greece and oil everywhere you touch. Plus in this weather, wet and cold outside, it's not that good for me to start learning. Right now I need to drain the gasoline to store it for the winter. Is it OK if I leave it in the non-working way it is right now until the end of the winter? Also, I was told that I only need to unscrew the screw at the buttom of the carburetor to drain the gas. Is that true?

Yes. Take out the drain plug (the one in the center of the bowl with the rubber washer on it), and drain the gas into a gas can or jar or some container that can be sealed. You don't want to leave any gas in the bike if you're storing it, as it will gum up and be a helluva mess when you finally get back to it ....

I just bought a 50cc air cooled 4 stroke mid bike yesterday It's so awesome and fast. It has lights and a honk. ****... you can't even compare it to my cag...
