DM Midi Water Pump O-Ring

I've searched every auto parts store, lawnmower shop, hardware store, motorcycle shop in town and I can not find a replacement for my 2002 DM Midi water pump o-ring drive. I am desperate. I'm supposed to practice this weekend. Does anyone know a SIZE, BRAND and SUPPLIER that I can find one at?? Size is most important. I'm headed to the city tomorrow and I'm sure I can find a store with O-rings. The only places I didn't get to today were plumbing supply stores.

Re: DM Midi Water Pump O-Ring

I went to our local ACE that has been in business for over 90 years. Unfortunately it was filled with idiots. And God forbid I mentioned the application and it was all over. If I had an actual length it would be great. I'm driving to the valley (2hr round trip) to a seal store I found this morning. Hopefully with bike in hand I can find the right one. The guy I talked to sounded humored with my troubles. He sounded like he thought he was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We'll see.

That #262 is the part number you will find anywhere that sells big o-rings. Ace has them in drawers in the misc section of hardware. Do you still have the old o-ring?

Re: DM Midi Water Pump O-Ring

Well, he was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He had 10,000+ o-rings in stock!! He measured the pulley sizes and the distance apart, whipped out the old calculator and came out to a rough 7.125", probably using Nanophysics and Nucleargeometry! That corresponds with the #262 Parker o-ring number.

So this is what I learned:
  1. Parker manufactures the o-rings
  2. #262 is a standard o-ring number that you'll find within even a six, eight or ten digit part number from someone else like ACE Hardware.
  3. #262 is a 7.000" I.D. x 7.125" O.D.
  4. The DM pulleys are a standard 1/8" o-ring channel @7.133"
  5. The DM o-ring is the same as the Polini o-ring.
I can't tell you what I paid for the o-rings because I couple for free! Super nice old guy. AMAZING customer service. And a whole lot of knowledge on all types of seals. He IS the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Re: DM Midi Water Pump O-Ring

Good to see you found your belt in time for this weekends blast of fun.

Just make sure you keep a good eye on your new belt since the old 1 snapped. If there is a bad bearing in the water pump they will go fast.
