Pocketbikes do NOT belong on the street!

As most of you know one of our main rules here at Pocketbike Planet has always been to not allow any dicusiion of street riding. We have always maintained that you should only ride your pocketbike on the track or a closed course environment (with the land owners permission).

Here is a reminder of why:

Miniature Motorcycle Crash Kills 1

By Dana Willhoit
The Ledger

WINTER HAVEN -- A 19-year-old Winter Haven man riding a miniature motorcycle died Monday after he drove into the path of a Polk County school bus, Winter Haven police said.

Christopher Daniel Brooks, of 1904 Faircourt N.E., was riding south on Second Street Northwest as a bus carrying five students from Elbert Elementary School headed west on Palmetto Avenue.

According to Fred Murphy, assistant superintendent of support services for the Polk County School District, who went to the site of the accident, Brooks went through a stop sign and into the path of the bus.

Winter Haven police Officer Don Nunnery said that the accident is still under investigation, but it does not appear that the bus driver, Sandra Foster, 58, was at fault.

Another school bus was called out, and the "We don't think they saw much of anything," Murphy said.

Officials said Foster is a substitute driver who has been working for the School District since August.

Foster was distraught over the accident, he said.

"She's a terrific lady," Murphy said. "And she has an impeccable driving record. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time today."

Brooks was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he died, according to Winter Haven police Capt. Vic Neal.
