Total Minimoto Magazine MAY DIE!

All racers and riders,

As many of you know, I write articles for Total Minimoto Magazine. I do this because I love the sport, and I like to pretend I’m a journalist! I don’t get paid anything for writing or supporting the mag. In Issue #2 I have two articles, one on a Rocket powered pocketbike, and an interview with Frank Giannini. I also do a piece on minimoto happenings in the US.

Anyway, the magazine is in trouble (see below). So if you were thinking about buying an issue, now would be a good time to go to their website at: www.totalminimoto.com or use the button on the lower left.

I’ve already submitted an article for Issue #3, and I’d really like to see it get published. Don’t let the only magazine for Minimotos fade away; buy a copy.

Thanks for your time,

Fritz

TMM would like to make an apology. Due to the slower sales of Issue 2 we will have to delay Issue 3 until we have the funding to pay for the printing. We need your support to help keep the magazine going. Without sales then we cannot move forward, simple as that. We really needed to break this out of the minimoto community and into the mainstream but to do this we require sales far far far greater than we currently have. At this point we are not in the position to make any immediate forward steps.

We are currently looking at a number of options available to us and will keep all of you informed.”

Re: Total Minimoto Magazine MAY DIE!

Hi all,

Firstly let me apologise for any lack of communication. As you can imagine, pulling a magazine together when you are doing this in our spare time, working full time in the real world, trying to keep the family happy AND actually getting to go out and enjoy minimotos is a bit of a nightmare. To be honest this probably needs full time staff but as we are small in number and in sales we are not in the position to be able to financially support this option. We did think that we had kept all those who were interested in distributing the magazine over there informed that we were trying to source a viable, cost-effective means of shipping over there. Apologies if we hadn’t. Unfortunately it would seem that shipping costs to get the magazine over there are prohibitive for the numbers of magazines we are talking about, not just from the weight side but also the cost of customs conformity. It would make the magazine extremely costly to you guys over there. It is actually cheaper to order it through our shop so this is the avenue we have maintained.

I don’t really want to go into the financial details of the magazine but suffice to say, because we are self funding we have to get to a level of sales before we can pay the 50% up front print costs for the next Issue. Sadly with Issue 2 we haven’t got the volume of sales to fund this at present. Every penny coming in from the magazine has gone back in to advertising, print costs, distribution. We take nothing from it personally other than the satisfaction of putting the magazine out there.

We do not want this to die and we are exploring a couple of options that would see the magazine make the breakthrough it deserves. We will do everything we can to ensure its survival and we thank every person who has bought the magazine, sent e-mails of support or made suggestions and offers. We set this up to promote minimotos, initially to the UK scene but as it transpires it was embraced worldwide. Obviously the UK is perhaps a little more established. Just last weekend we had over 260 competitors at a race meeting. We would love to see this replicated everywhere and the magazine was intended to promote just such a thing.

Bear with us. We are doing everything we can to sort this out to move forward.

All the best

The TMM Team ---- Gary, Neil, Darren, Alan.Chris, Mark
